Wonderful cruise to Hawaii by LorieD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

This was our third cruise, the second time with NCL. Overall we had a very good time. Lots of choices for shore activites and lots of ship events to pick from during the day. We did feel that the drinks were a bit overpriced.. $5.75 for a beer. As well, we noticed a large number of picture not purchased from the photography studio. If the picture were less money, I am sure more would have been purchased. $14.95 for a 5X7 is a bit high. I know we would have purchased most of ours had the price been more in the $5.00 to $7.50 for the 5X7 size. We would definity consider NCL for our next cruise which will be to Alaska in 2 years.

First Cruise by ShelleyS2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

I enjoyed the ship finding things to do for everyone in the family. We did not eat in any of the restaraunts that required a fee, but found the other places to have a variety for everyone. Not having a scheduled time to eat or seating assignment was nice.

awesome Hawaiian cruise by Deb5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

loved the ports of call, the ship actually went slowly down the na pali coastline and then u turned and went back again, enjoyed watching the lava flow into the ocean. The food was good, actually better in the buffet than in the dining room, but we had excellent service in the dining room, and the food was good just choices were a little weird. the entertainment was the bigest disappointment. i was used to broadway or las vegas type shows with the costumes and the sets, the broadway night was just 6 singers and no costumes or sets. they sang songs from cats in their evening dress. just not as good as i've seen on other cruise lines

An ok Cruise by MattT6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

The ship was wonderful. But as far as overall entertainment there was not much. They had the same live acts one after another and the cruise did not feature much for mid-20 honeymooners to age 40. If you want to see Hawaii through a quick cruise I would recommend this one but other than that this cruise did not have a WOW factor.

The trip of a lifetime by RobertR16

We were not "provided" with all the information. It took several calls to your agency to get what information was needed. We expected a mail package but found that NCL operates entirely off the internet.

The Ship was nice but small rooms! by DavidT9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

The food was average and below and the service was bad. The rooms were smaller than on older ships we have been on with a port hole window and we were in a stateroom.

a top-rate, first-class vacation by TerryB6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

After reading many of the online reviews of the " Pride of America", I didn't know what to expect. All of the reviews were so conflicting, I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into. I came on the ship ready to be dissapointed. After spending a week on the ship, I am thrilled to say that it was fantastic!!!!! There was no sign of anything negative. Cabins were spotless and were kept that way by our friendly steward. Every time we left the cabin it had been cleaned and towels were anew. Everynite we had a different towel animal ( offering mints) sitting on our bed. All conmmon areas were clean and spotless as well, and crews were forever polishing and sweeping the halls and stairs. Every crew member that I came into contact with would smile at me and say hello, and even ask "how are you doing?" or "are you enjoying the cruise?" They made me feel as if I was a guest in their home. The ship itself was beautiful, with all the brightly colored American themed areas and photos. A lot of the reviews that I read complained of a sewer odor. There was never a foul odor anywhere that I could smell, and I was all over the ship! Food was fantastic everywhere we ate. Tried a few of the restaurants but found that the food in the Aloha Cafe was just as good with no waiting or hassle (and we could wear our shorts) so we mostly ate there when we were hungry. Clean up service in the cafe was exceptional!! As soon as all the food was gone, the plates were speedily whisked out of our sight like magic, so we could go and get some more food...and such an assortment of foods, it was hard to stop at one helping. All of the shows that we saw were very enjoyable and employed quality talent. The only review that I read that seemed to come true for me was the temperature of the ship. Although each cabin has its own thermostat that can be set comfortuably to ones liking, most of the common areas were freezing!!!!! I sometimes found myself very cold and miserable even with my jacket on. I don't feel that it should be necessary to wear a heavy winter coat on a hawiian cruise. Other than that, the cruise was great and I would jump at the chance to do it all again...of course, next time, I'll know to pack my winter coat and maybe some thermal underwear!!

Great vacation, not so great ship. by DarrylD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

We chose this cruise line only because we wanted to see the various Hawaiian Islands, the port of embarkation was great as it was Honolulu and it saved time traveling across the ocean to Hawaii. We used the ship as a hotel and transportation from one island to the other. Our Cruises Only agent, Harry, told us not to expect much in the way of service as this was our seventh cruise and have found the other cruise lines to be very service oriented. The food was mediocre at best and the entertainment average.

four stars by KathleenB273073

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

I was very happy with the ship, the crew and the venues available. The staff was polite and helpful, and the shore excursions were great. My only disenchantment came with dealing with Norwegians direct "help" line. The particular assistant I got (in a call prior to my cruise) was not only abrupt and somewhat rude, but she misinformed me as to when I could actually board the ship. If I had waited until 4 pm--the time she advised would be the earliest time I could board-- it would have been very stressful. The cruise itself was very enjoyable.
