Wonderful cruise to Hawaii

Sail Date: November 29, 2008

Reviewed: 8 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Inside

This was our third cruise, the second time with NCL. Overall we had a very good time. Lots of choices for shore activites and lots of ship events to pick from during the day. We did feel that the drinks were a bit overpriced.. $5.75 for a beer. As well, we noticed a large number of picture not purchased from the photography studio. If the picture were less money, I am sure more would have been purchased. $14.95 for a 5X7 is a bit high. I know we would have purchased most of ours had the price been more in the $5.00 to $7.50 for the 5X7 size. We would definity consider NCL for our next cruise which will be to Alaska in 2 years.

Pros: Longer time at the ports plus all the activities

Cons: Food was cold on several ocassions

Recommends Pride of America? Yes!

Food and Dining
Dinning room lacked quality and quantity.
Often at the Buffet the food was luke warm or cold, however the selection was excellent.
Ship Quality
Very nice and easy to get around to the various activities. Boarding and disembarking was very easy and well organized.
Cabin / Stateroom
We had requested a non smoking room, however the mattress and pillows smelled of smoke. When brining it to the attention of customer service we did get fresh pillow, however till had a problem with the mattress that smelled of smoke which did cause a problem with our allergies.
Entertainment
Lots of choices, something for everyone.
The daily news letter was excellent...very well done.
Service and Staff
Staff were all friendly and very knowledgeable. They really seemed to enjoy their jobs and working for NCL.
Hilo, Hawaii
We took the excursion to the volcano and other sights.
Nawiliwili, Kauai
This was our favorite place. The boat ride up the river was great, beautiful. We also had a bus tour around the port. The second day we took a walk through the shops and enjoyed the beach.
Don't Miss: Boat ride up the river and the fern grotto
Kahului, Maui
We took the submarine to the coral reef...this was excellent. We also took a day tour of the historical sights...very interesting.
Don't Miss: Submarine
Kailua-Kona, Hawaii
We did not take a tour, we took the tender into the port and walked around, enjoyed the numerous shops and the beach.
