7 Day Hawaii inter-island cruise by SteveS3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

7 Day inter-island Hawaii cruise I'd give this cruise a B- rating. It was way overpriced. The food was just ok and nothing other than a 50's style diner was open after 9:30pm. No late night buffet like most cruises. No casino onboard. The comedy onboard was hilarious, but the onboard live music was mostly weak with Disco, Beatles, Eagles and Jimmy Buffet tributes (almost all by the same group). Good way to see 3 different islands for 2 days each, but way too expensive ($1.95 for sodas!).

A great honeymoon by GeorgeM3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

This was my first cruise, and it was a great experience. The crew of pride of america was wonderful. The ship was great and the excursions were all great fun. The excursions were well planned and operated very efficiently. The tour guides were engaging, interesting, and funny on all 6 of our excursions.

An okay cruise by AnnaK26266584

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

My husband and I have been cruising for 30+ years and we were very surprised at how dirty the ship was. You could barely see out the windows of the dining room. The staff took their time cleaning off the tables and no one ever had a smile on their faces.

The food was on par with a bad Las Vegas buffet! The service personnel was average at best....I was ignored on a couple of accasions. Pictures at every turn...pictures with a guy in a dolphin outfit....are you serious! Room was clean.

An Amazing Cruise by NicoeD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

I recently sailed on the Pride of American and it was nothing short of amazing. This was my first time sailing and it was just simply something that has to be experienced. I never dreamed that the ship could have so many things available. The pool area with four nice hott tubs, five bars, and wonderful food. It was two of my cousins birthdays and one restraunts made them a speical cake and it had Happy Birthday! Our stateroom was awesome. We had the services of the crew members making up our room, turning down our cabin, and even putting animals made of towels on our beds. Getting our luggage on board and off board were easy as 1,2,3! This experience as a first time crusier makes me wanna go crusing more. The staff was friendly, nice and helpful. I can't wait to book another cruise!

A great cruise by ConcettaM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

The ship was beautiful the cabins were great. However, the specialty restaurants were not that great. The steak house was a horror. The meal and the service was bad. I resent that I had to pay additional to eat in these places. The buffet was like a mad cattle call to many people waiting on line. The staff were always pushing drinks at the pool how many times must we say no. The shore excursions were very expensive. We rented a car and did our own thing saw just as much at half the price.

The Best Way to see the Real Hawaii by JosephineC1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

I have been given the title of the new spokesperson for the Norwegian Cruise Lines by my family. I loved the ship and how easy it was to get around. The buffet was fantastic and I really enjoyed the selected tours.

I'm the new spokesperson for NCL by JosephineC1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

We enjoyed the food choices, the stateroom was lovely and the excursions were very very nice. The only thing missing was a Beach Luau or picnic. That would be an extra added value to the trip.

Beautiful destination by TamaraB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

The ship is the only one that sails under the American Flag. If this were my first cruise, I wouldn't know better but I've cruised alot. The destination is great, how can you mess up Hawaii? But one of the things I look forward to the most is the great food. I can honestly say the best thing I ate all week was a chilled strawberry soup. I had a steak in the main dining room that was awful and so was the beef loin. The night we had lobster, it was a very small tail paired with a very bland grouper filet and I had to ask for the drawn butter. Who eats lobter without butter? The service is usually perfect on a cruise, not this one. Tables were dirty in the buffet area, dishes were empty and not refilled, I was appalled. Many of the workers were busy talking to each other rather than paying attention to their jobs. This was a perfect cruise other than the food and the service. Also remember, you pay extra for sodas, pictures, food, and just about everything else you need.

NCL Hawaii cruise by LeslieT

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

I would only recommend this cruise to someone who has either never been to Hawaii, or who has never cruised before. The food was nothing special and the restaurants that charge $25/ea extra weren't even special - cept for the sushi restaurant. They were the best restaurant on the ship. The tipping is automatic, so we felt that while they were ok, they didn't work as hard as they do when they have to earn their tips. We live in Hawaii, and we took the cruise hoping to see the islands from the sea. The Napali sail by was exceptional - very beautiful and I took about 300 plus photos. Met some wonderful new friends and have good memories of being with our son - he has fun, but was disappointed their wasn't more to do. Had hoped for skeet shooting. Again, good if you don't compare them to Royal Caribbean, showed them up big time in the food and entertainment..

Hawaii Cruise by Traveler56

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

I would have liked to have paid for purchases as they were procured. The only card accepted for purchases was the room card. I did not like the deficit spending. One had to be careful that one did not spend all one's money on the ship. The stateroom was very small, and the beds barely accommodated an adult. Also, there were about six restaurants that required an additional fee. It would have been helpful to have had the safety drill the next morning, instead of the day people were boarding the ship. Many people had had 13 or 14 hour flights.
