Hawaiian Family Cruise by Ksp13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Pride of America

Overall we had a great time on our cruise. Service in the dining room could be a bit faster but we enjoyed the family time. Our cabin was clean and beds comfortable. The islands were all beautiful!

Trip of a Lifetime by Cruiser3504449

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America

Perfect sized ship for such a perfect vacation. Everything from embarkation to disembarkation went smoothly. Ports here are amazing whether you choose your own adventure or use one of the ship excursions. Luau in Nawiliwili is a MUST and just puts the icing on the perfect cruise cake.

Mediocre Cruise Ship and Cruise by vorlon

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America

Over-all Experience was average at best. Best Items: Food was very good Room was nice Worst Items; Internet did not work.... Should have asked for refund of over $350 I was told to use cell since we were in port every day. Ship was much too cold! Tropical climate and freezing on the inside. Purchased sweaters etc. to keep warm Ship is just old and not being maintained well. Sink stopper broken in room and they did not fix it. just took it out. shower not working at pool area the entire cruise.. Signs of wear and tear in many places Cruise was very expensive compared to most (No value for money other than transportation to islands). Shore excursions were ridiculously expensive. $700-800 for a dinner lua for two! $600 fir a bus tour? Cruise director was just a marketing person always pushing the expensive activities every day. He became annoying after awhile. Some good entertainment (comic and pink bar) but who does a movie for the primary entertainment? That was sad. 20% tip on everything plus $40/day on room is excessive. Signing slips all week for coffee, drinks etc. is annoying. Just roll the cost into the cruise and pay your workers a living wage. Don't have the passengers help subsidize the employees when NCL should be doing it!!!! At least you call it a service charge and not a tip anymore since that would be discretionary. I would not recommend this cruise If you want an incredible ship, I would recommend the Celebrity Edge class ships, Incredible in every aspect! We just loved it....

Unique cruise with pluses and minuses by mrplombard

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America

This cruise has one unique advantage, in that (I believe) it is the only major line that goes to Hawaii without having first to sail from another country. If you don't want to spend several days in a row at sea getting to Hawaii this is a huge advantage, and the reason we chose to take it. The price you pay is that it also has to pay American wages since there are no international stops, which would allow for lower wages. So you pay a higher price for this convenience. Going in, we knew that this was not a high level cruise ship; in fact it had less to offer than any of the other 14 cruises we have taken on other lines. But overall it was worth it to us to fly in and out of Honolulu, and have 2 days on each island, rather than just one.

Great view of Hawaii and all it offers by Boaz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America

This cruise is the best way to see all of the islands of Hawaii. The cruise line does not cruise the coast on the final day so be aware of this issue. After speaking with other cruisers we realized rental cars are the way to go. So if you plan correctly renting cars will afford you the best opportunity to see the islands at your pace. The road to Hana was driven at our pace and after speaking with cruisers that took the tours they were somewhat disappointed that not all stops happened. We choose the Volcano Park and only saw a small portion. Again cruisers that rented cars talked about seeing a ton more than we did. Best advice I can give is book an aft cabin and rent cars at every stop that is available and plan accordingly and it will be a trip of a lifetime.

Fun Hawaian Cruise by tammymeier

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America

Great cruise but over priced. Did not get good or even average service. Had to wait too long for a drink. Had to wait in line at the bar then treated horribly by the overworked bartenders.

Hawaiian Cruise by groucho930

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

The ship was beautiful, but the shopping on board was terrible. No other sizes except small in everything. Very little selection. No place to buy sunscreen, Tylenol, bandaid, seasickness wristbands, etc.

Beautiful Cruise of Hawaii’s Islands by jennygala

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America

We enjoyed this cruise! It’s hard not to compare to what newer ships offer. Dining was short staffed in many of the restaurants, two venues were closed and we were not able to experience Sushi or East meets West. I think the cruise cost is a little pricey for what the ship offers. But overall we enjoyed. Hawaii is just beautiful!

Very disappointed Hawaiian cruise y NCL by readynow

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Pride of America

It was totally unacceptable ship. Should not be called NCL! I paid for 4 balcony cabins, 8550, 8566, 8568, 8570, for my family but felt embarrassed.

Great itinerary, dry poor ship by majidkayhan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America

We have been cruising over 25 years with over 20 cruises. We used Norwegian many times in the past and enjoyed every one of them. This time was exceptionally poor food quality, poor services, horrible guests interaction with most of the staff, the worst entertainment ever seen, lazy employees, less service in the cabin, ……etc.

DON'T SAIL NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINES by suechoi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Pride of America

The worst part of this cruise was getting through the NCL registration process. I bought and paid for three cabins for a birthday gift to my brothers and their wives. The NCL website is poorly designed and not intuitive. Collectively it took about 10 hours over 10 days to simply register the occupants of these three cabins. It should have taken about 15 minutes. Numerous "conversations" with chat people, providing the same information repeatedly, always resulted in being told to call the customer service phone line. What is the point of having chat service if the people on the other end can't solve any problems? When I spoke to the telephone reps they were friendly, confirmed the information that I provided, promised that the issue was either fixed or they would fix it, but it was never fixed. I finally discovered the problem was that the information I had provided for the cabin occupants at purchase had been changed in the NCL system. If one of the chat agents or phone reps had simply told me "I see your reservation by the number you gave me, but the first name is different" this could have been solved in five minutes. I finally figured that out myself. But even after I got the registrations started it still took a long time for things to update. Photos that I uploaded would disappear without explanation. For the primary registration, I had to visit chat on the day before departure for them to "clear the lock" on my account so that I could print the boarding documents. This experience gave me a very negative impression of NCL before I even boarded the ship.

Most expensive cruise with least enjoyable onboard experience, while visiting the most beautiful US State. by BKCyd

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Pride of America

Overall, I was disappointed with this cruise. I felt like I was on the Staten Island Ferry - ok maybe the Circle Line. Kool-aid Cruise at Champagne Price. PROS: Departing and returning to Honolulu compared to other cruise lines that start and end in different locations. Visiting the several different islands, some with overnight stays. Lots of ports makes for an emptier ship so lots of room to spread out. Staff was friendly and professional* CONS: Not a good value. I have cruised on newer/larger NCL ships for less. Food was sub-par. Best meal was at East Meets West. The ship is dated, despite supposedly being recently refurbished. Balcony room was OK but bathroom very small with shower curtain - not ideal. Not much entertainment/activities while ship was sailing. Excursions were quite pricey. *Some staff were not placed in the proper roles. Felt like some crew was new and had little guidance or training. Some crew in customer service positions should probably be moved to background roles or definitely need to shadow more seasoned employees. While I am eager to return to Hawaii, it WILL NOT be with NCL unless they significantly upgrade the on-board experience.

Best way to see the Hawaiin Islands! by FirstTimeHawaii

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America

Wonderful time. I was worried about the cost of the vacation not being worth it but this being my first experience with Hawaii, it surpassed the already high expectation because the beauty and activities on the islands was worth the expense.
