huge disappointment by Cruiser72406771

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

we couldn't sleep in our room and nobody would help us. the noise from the crew keep us up all night until we got ear plugs. The desserts are so bad you can't eat them. They took all the taste out of the desserts. Think sugar free. We was treated so rudely by the shore excursion people that we reported them to the cruise line. We didn't even get to see the glazier because the ship couldn't get into the passage. I've been on several Royal ships they are all good except this one. it need revamping. The crew is unhappy and it shows. They are rude, unhelpful and you can tell the have forced smiles. Every cruise I have ever been on has food all the time. Not this ship. The only thing they have between meal times is pizza and pastries. There's a hotdog stand that's open maybe 2 hours if your lucky enough to get in line. This was our bucket list cruise that was ruined by Royal. Pick another ship. I tied to put my room number but this won't let me. It was 3596. If you sail this ship to Alaska don't pick this cabin even if it's the last one. You wont sleep.

Worst cruise of my life. by juliecoffell

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

6/14/19 3:00 we arrived at the terminal to board the ship which was still at the dock. The ground attendant who called the ship was told were not allowed onto the ship because we were too late. She said that we could catch the ship in Juneau. So we went back to the airport, bought two tickets to Juno. Were we spent two nights waiting for the ship to dock. 6/15/19 Receive a texted from my credit card company stating that there was over $485.00 being charged to our card. This was denied. We were not even on the ship. 6/16/19 Finally got onto the ship. Went up to a room that we had not chosen. The room keys were in someone else’s name. We went to guest services to get the correct keys. Went back up to our room with the keys with our name on them. They did not work. Back down to guest services. We were told the keys would work after 4:00. After 4:00 we tried to get into our room. The keys still didn’t work. Back down to guest services. We received a bracelet to unlock the door and a card to operate the electricity in the room. This took hours and 4 to 5 people to figure out. Exhausting day. 6/17/19 Enjoyed seeing the glacier and coastline. Went to the movies. The sound was so loud it hurt our ears (other people too) and the 3d glasses were filthy. The buffet was mediocre and not big enough to handle all the people on the ship. 6/18/19 Enjoyed the show. Went to my time dining for dinner which was good. 6/19/19 Docked in Victoria. Before we went on a tour we paid our bill. The room steward said good bye because we were leaving the ship. We told him no we are just going on a tour. Went we got back from the tour we went to get back on board but were blocked. We asked why and were told because we boarded the ship in Juneau we could not go back to Seattle due to a Jones Act. If we did it would cost us a fine of over $800.00 each. So we packed up our belonging and went to the ferry station to catch the ferry to St Angels. Then took a cab to the ferry to get to Seattle. Took another taxi to the airport and had to pay extra to change our flight to Florida. 6/20/19 Finally got back home. The mental stress of chasing the boat and humiliation being stopped and not allowed back on the boat was terrible. The ship was more of a cattle boat than a cruise ship. Very disappointing.

disappointment by Cruiser72406771

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

the staff on board was not friendly and helpful except for the stateroom attendant . he was excellent. The staff refused to help us get our shore excursions. We were told to do it on the computer screen we are busy. The food was not food. there was nothing to eat in between the dining rooms being closed except pizza and pastries. We couldn't sleep in our cabin because of the noise from the crew cabins under us. It was a wasted trip. It was to be our bucket list cruise and we wasted $5,000

Did not meet expectations. by lawkrauss

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Expected more from the ship. It had great potential, although too many cabins for size of ship. But it disappointed. Central spaces full of luxury shops instead of nice spaces to relax. High tech spaces not used as well as they could be. Ports were great but I would visit in another ship.

Think Twice by rhamm01

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We paid for stream and internet service, you could not stream anything and 95% of the time nothing worked. Everyone was complaining about the service, should not have to pay for something that does not provide. We had to wait till we got to the major ports to get phone calls or emails sent. This presented a major problem for me, since I had to have contact with family in the lower states.

Most Amazing Cruise of our Lives! by DeniseSikes

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Fantastic, not to be missed cruise! The crew on board this ship were by far the most competent and friendly of all the ships I have been on. I cannot wait to travel on Ovation of the Seas again based on the experiences we had on this cruise. Thank you Royal Caribbean, and Danielle Smith from for taking such good care of us!

RC Ovation Hawaii to Vancouver Cruise by sengle959

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Hawaii

Overall we had a good time. Could have been a great trip if not for the itinerary changes and tendering problems. The weather from Hawaii to Victoria was not the greatest, causing everyone to stay inside for most of the 5 sea days.

Lovely ship by margmex

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Hawaii

Lovely ship but first two days disorganized in dining room. Much better as the cruise progressed. Very disappointed in the fact that some ports were missed /cut short, better planning needed on the part of RC itinerary staff. Overall enjoyed the cruise and service very good.

Unorganized Hawaii/Canada Cruise by michaelbarefiel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Hawaii

Very nice ship with friendly staff and service personnel. Horrible planning on Roya Caribbean’s behalf! When entertainment department looks at each other while doing a show and whispers this is the first time doing this I’m so confused it’s a problem! The tinder service was horrible! I caught the first tinder off and still took an hour and a half to get off the ship! Getting luggage once getting off the ship will be the main reason for me to never cruise with Royal again! Talking with elderly people who cruised 35 times said this was the worst cruise they’ve been on!

Operational Nightmare by DanRoberts52

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Hawaii

We were very disappointed that SkyMiles allowed us to be cheated out of visiting the Big Island and the Volcano when those two itinerary changes were made. The credit we received was peanuts compared to the cost of the cruise. IF WE HAD KNOWN THAT THESE CHANGES WOULD BE MADE TO THE CRUISE, WE WOULD NOT HAVE TAKEN IT. We WOULD have canceled the cruise if we could have gotten all of our money back. And YOUR COMPANY said that we would get two or three Special Dinner coupons for the trip. WE DIDN'T! We will probably be using other agencies in the future, even though I love Delta Airlines and am a Diamond with them.

A beautiful and well designed ship. Communication on board was poor. Once that you learned the layout, it became easier.

All That Glitters by rstevenson10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Transpacific

A beautiful ship, and a good choice for families, but there are much better cruise choices for couples. Plus, for this number of passengers, there's really not enough space for everything they've built on the ship.
