First cruise but won't be the last! by buzzies

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific

This was our very first cruise for our family, we have an 8 and 10 year old. This was one of our best family holidays, far exceeded our expectations. Kids had so much to do everyday. Couldn't fault the staff, service and food. Weather and sailing conditions were perfect, which certainly helped make our trip so enjoyable. We would recommend Ovation of the seas for families and our kids were at a perfect age/height to be able to participate in all activities. We def will be cruising again in the near future!!

Not the best cruise by bigc58

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific - Australia

Disappointing due to having to miss out the ports we went on the cruise to see due to bad weather. Feel more could have been done.

30th Wedding Anniversary Cruise by aowend

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific - Australia

My husband and I enjoyed an amazing cruise and ports for our 30th! The ship is HUUUUGEEEE but it didn't feel overcrowded and we enjoyed whatever we planned on doing or attending. The biggest disappointment was the food in the dining room. It was just average and some dishes were actually bad or tasteless. we ended up eating at the buffet or restaurants but since you had to pay extra that was not desirable to us. We went on recent cruises with Holland America where the food was SO delicious at EVERY meal, that admittedly we were spoiled coming onto this cruise. The staff was wonderful and tried to accommodate any way they could...but some things were lost in translation and other times it was just plain old bad cooking and the chef isn't getting it...Well it wasn't worth ruining our vacation, but we went on travel adviser and found many reviews complaining about the food, so it IS an issue...

Ovation Of the Seas is one of our favourite ships. Loved her size. Loved the ifly experience. We enjoyed the dance lessons & the flashdance surprise for the guests. Love the ship's decor. Have another cruise in 2020. Can't wait!

very disappointed in Singapore everyone... by crazybear

Sail date: /
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

very disappointed in Singapore everyone was pushed into a room 1,000 plus people for over 2 hours no chairs, water or air conditioning they were sending 20 people in at a time to 2 elevators because the escalator was broke after 2 hours standing with a swollen Achilles tendon we moved upstairs to another line 1/2 hour later we were on after the ship arrived 6 hours late to port,no management directing staff very disappointed. This is my 6 cruise with rcl and the second on ovation if you plan to cruise for Singapore don't. Food this time was very average long cues to the main restaurants went only twice. The first night the waiter kept giving the entrees to the wrong people and the main meals came to deserts my partner ask the waiter 3 times did the dessert have coffee in it he said no brought her and another lady's dessert out gave them the wrong ones he argued came back 5 minutes later said he made a mistake brought another dessert out she had one mouthful it contained coffee. went there for formal night 6 out of 8 at the table ordered fish all were dry didn't go back. we eat at the solarium restaurant food and service was great windgammer restaurant food was average bar staff were amazing all over the ship and the rooms were kept spotless

We joined the ship in... by leonardx

Sail date: /
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

We joined the ship in Singapore where it had arrived late. Boarding was complete chaos, with thousands of people held for hours before boarding. It was the Singapore processing system, rather than the ship. Just be aware if you are joining a cruise there. The ship is still lovely and staff are wonderful. If you have paid the premium to be in a suite, just be aware that your Concierge Club is also available to Diamond Plus members and can suffer from very difficult overcrowding, as it did on this cruise.

Great cruise by Noelsy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific - Australia

My wife and I have. Takenn(50) cruises and the Ovation rates as high as the best we’ve. Been onboard, the food was very good, service absolutely excellent from every staff member, the room attendant was curtious and helpful. Entertainment was fair but the ship is the best Australia has to offer

Interesting Repositioning Cruise by arapet

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: South Pacific - Australia

This is our first time on a chip as big as the Ovation of the Seas, although it is very nice with a lot of up to date cabins and a variety of recreational activities, we found that this type/size of ship is not for us (couple) without children, but excellent for families. The location of the library is not ideal, as it is part of an open theatre on the upper level ( 2-70 theatre) and that means it is NOT QUIET AREA AT ALL , as this theatre is used for a lot of activities and lectures during the day.

Not bad but did not meet up to expectations by Juniorrayt

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Asia & Indian Ocean

This our second cruise, which we were very excited to do but unfortunatly it did not meet upto our expectatons. If this was my first cruise i'm not sure i would be back. I am still living of my first cruise with The Jewel of the seas. After the first week of not feeling special we spoke to Diana in customer service who went out of her way to give us a better experience. I am also thankful to Jamaila and Sri, who also served us brilliantly. We will be travelling with Royal Caribbean next year and hope that it is better.

Excellent cruise around parts of Asia by Denbic83

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Asia & Indian Ocean

Ship was amazing plenty to do, staff friendly and helpful. Food lovely and plenty of it. Places we visited were very interesting, glad we took the tours though the ship as we got plenty of history & information about our surroundings from the local tour guides. We would have liked a little more free time in these places to explore but some ports were industrial as the ship was so big, so you had to get a bus to nearby villages.

Fun Family Holiday - but I probably wouldn’t choose this particular cruise again. by Gwennykins

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

Overall, we had a fun time. The ship and the staff were great - but there were issues which seem to be mainly to do with the dining, as described above. The buffet was very busy and it was impossible for our family of six - we tried various times and abandoned the idea. The ports we visited were probably chosen to be appropriate for the size of ship. We loved Japan and the Japanese people - but I don’t feel we saw the best of Japan. Hong Kong was brilliant and the highlight of he holiday -so much to do and see.

Disaster by Gerryjean

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

It was the worst cruise I have ever been on.The food was mediocre. The wind jammer was very hard to find a seat.Chinese were reserving up to ten seats at a time taking large plates of food when it ran out wasn't being replaced. The ship says no smoking is allowed in indoor public areas yet the casino is like an opium den the amount of smokers using it.At the end of the cruise we were told to leave early to give the ship a deep cleaning because of a novo virus outbreak. The hall where we collected our cases had thousands of people in it and was a nightmare
