Review summary

I think royal is desperate to recoup its losses without thinking through treatment of its customers and having the right ratios of staff etc. After cruise calling in and being on hold for 1hour 23 minutes to sort out the lost luggage with no help once an agent picked up is sad.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Couldn't be worse, hoards of people in line...no special lines for those with status (Diamond etc.); slow through entry, slow through security scanning, slow to gangways; had an appointment that was irrelevant

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
should not have buffets anymore. make them smaller and not self serve (too many people handling the same utensils etc.)

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Never got to ride bumper cars, not enough time slots; the same for the ride in the sky. And, nothing new on board. No cigar bar/smoking room only outdoor and that is not good in alaska where its cold and rainy

Entertainment

3 out of 5
comedian not funny, shows limited

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our assistant waitress was awful, drinks slow or not delivered at all. Other services like breakfast in dining room were lackluster

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Sitting up in windjammer, listening to doors squeaking is nuts. Also, chairs not arranged adequately around the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
obstructed view sucked, but the cabin was kept up well great steward. Cabin size and space was great.

Ship tip

figure out where everything is, the ship is tough to navigate...walk it all on day 1.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

5 out of 5
Self guided and seattle is amazing

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Juneau is fantastic, did a private seaplane tour

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
did a private dogsled tour

Sitka, Alaska

2 out of 5
Sitka is nice, but waiting in pouring rain for a bus with 4000 plus people is not efficient. have handicap line and separate buses for them to improve boarding times perhaps? Also, RCCL did not allow smoked salmon on board. could be shipped but were not told this, many passengers through away 100's of dollars of purchases yet the shopowners could ship if we knew.

Victoria, British Columbia

5 out of 5
self guided

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
they lost my bag (mistagged it) for airport valet. otherwise it was fine.

Thanks for sharing your cruise

Do you mean RCCL wouldn't let you buy smoked salmon in port and bring it onboard?

Sorry this cruise didn’t meet the RCCL standards you’ve come to expect. Appreciate your feedback.

Perhaps cruising isn't for you. The ships aren't YOUR private yacht, so you have to learn to share the ships with others.
