Book with line and bypass cruises.com. Holland was rude but at least I would not have to also deal with world travel holdings and their bad service.

Be prepared for a more relaxed environment with older adults. Could use a little more activity during the day.

Plan on using internet resources at shore stops. The expense and limitations of internet access on board seemed to be a universal source of unhappiness. Go to the Crows Nest/Explorations lounge on the level 10 to enjoy a delicious cappuccino!

I would like to offer two tips You get a "When & Where" newsletter each evening. Plan your day from this. It is a single trifold piece of paper that bounds with information. If you like to drink, whether it is cocktails or wine with your dinner or espresso and cappuccino after dinner, check into the drink packages. They can be well worth it.

The seas are rough in December so you may want to schedule another time if that bothers you.

Do NOT book a room anywhere the front--midship or back. Plan on spending ALOT on extras.

Choose a suite, as I believe those have been refurbished within the last two years.

We have been on numerous cruise ships prior to this trip and found this cruise to be our worst nightmare. Upon arriving our orders of bottled water and other drink packages we not found. After paying for the packages a second time it took five calls down to custom relations to receive the water package and we were forced to go to the bar to purchase the fountain drink package (which was a mistake because the fountain drinks incorporated in the package were disgusting). We requested extra towels and tissues (that were missing from our room) and again calling Joy at customer relations) did not receive assistance after three calls) ventured out on our own is search of the Stewart to accommodate our needs. He was no where to be found and we had to go to another floor to get the items. This was only the iceberg of our oosterdamnation cruise. We dropped an earring on the floor and while retrieving it found previous guests soiled underwear and t-shirts along with creatures made from towels. We discarded the soiled items in a bag in the hallway and left the towel creatures under the bed. They remained there until one by one they arose to the top of our bed a new one each night. Rather then bringing newly created ones the Stewart reused them from previous cruises while storing them under the bed. What a time saver on his part we thought inspire of the unsanitary conditions it represented. What was even more hilarious was that after their display the used ones went back under the bed presumably for use with a third set of guests on the next cruise. If that was not the icing or lack of icing on the cake, we found even greater problems. Our air conditioner did not work and after contacting joy(who now knew us on a first name basis) over eight times it was never fixed. We finally gave up and just propped the balcony door open ourselves at night to stay cool. We were offered a fan but declined because it was too noisy. My wife requested for our balcony to be swept and finally asked for a broom to do it herself. I could go on complaining about countless other items from the lack of food selection on the Lido deck to food availability to drink selections and poor quality and portion rationing, but this review would end up being a damning novel. Rather than that I would encourage someone thinking about a cruise with Holland America to reconsider saving their money and go out of the port of palm beach on one of those pisspoor ships to have a similar Holland American Adventure. Our recommendation would be to go on Royal Caribbean’s fleet for enjoyment.

Don't sail on it. They are so cheap and don't do all the little things that make a cruise pleasant. We find the whole HAL experience on all their ships is also downgraded over the last three years. A young officer states that the bottom-line profit on each sailing is of number one importance because the Captain's bonus is based on the bottom-line; hence, the little things that used to matter are no longer important.

Be sure to check out the flower arrangements, they are stunning! Go to all the fun events in the Crow's Nest, that was my favorite spot.

No laundry facilities on ship. Laundry service offered by ship is expensive. Pack accordingly.
