Holland is a great line. Although I am on the younger end of the spectrum, 44, I sailed with my parents whom are in their late 70's. They love the size of the ship, not overly large and how they cater to their age group.
If you are younger, and looking for others your same age and more 'excitement' you may want to choose another cruise line perhaps celebrity or such.
But Holland is a first class experience, but again it's geared towards the retired crowd.

Food and Dining

MDR was good. Food quality was real good. Although the menu choices could have been a bit better. Did not seem as diverse of choices as Nieuw Amsterdam cruise last year.

Service and Staff

Staff is always the best. I don't care if its the guys scraping paint and painting to the room stewards and dining room staff , they are all great and cheerful.

Ship tip
Choose a suite, as I believe those have been refurbished within the last two years.
The Carnival/Holland owned cruise dock was great. all shops there, and if you wanted to use the free green colored chairs/umbrellas on the beach. Plus you had access to Jimmy Buffet's pool.
Awesome. Great Carnival/Holland owned port. All shops there, and the pool was AWESOME. No one hassling you since everything was private. Swim up pool, lazy river, staff coming around for food and drink. Great friendly staff too.
Awesome Carnival/Holland owned Island. The best. Best beach sand anywhere. like pancake flour.
All the chairs setup for you. Drinks at the bars, or they serve you on the beach. Awesome water to swim/wade. Plus the BBQ was great. Didn't visit it last year, but did this year. GREAT food. Mahi fish tacos, BBQ beef, jerked hamburgers and many salads and fruit.
I was also on the niuew amsterdam in march 2018. The menu 'choices' i thought were better. Food quality good on both. On the oosterdam they had tea everyday. In the mdr each afternoon. The NA was only 2 or 3 days if i recall correctly.
The NA was slightly larger ship. Not by much, but it is the class after the vista class. I believe being slightly larger it had the pizzeria on the rear lido. oosterdam only had the burger olace at midship pool. But they made up for it by having a taco nar setup on the rear lido if you prefered that.
All in all about the same both ships. The suites were both redone within the last few years on both.
We sailed the Mediterrean 14 day on Oosterdam. We loved it. Sure it could use some updating but the workers were fantastic.Bartenders, cooks, servers, cleaners all went out of their way to make you happy . Enjoyed the entertaiment ,bb kings was great as were the dual pianos. Would take another cruise on her anytime.
