18 days--11 of them with gale force winds not permitting us outside for days--people falling and getting injured with turbulance and getting sick--need I say more. Days on the Islands were great. Would I go to Hawaii again--yes--Would I cruise it--NO NO NO!
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Left late because of lifeboat issues and then had to turn around because a crew member got sick. We were trying to make up time after that.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Food served in the dining room was barely warm when it got to our table because they would seat us at large table. They seldom offered smaller or couple tables resulting in 2 to 3 hour meals. The Lido was good food and faster but you walked around looking for a pace to seat. Then when you did get somewhere the server hardly me to give you a beverage or take off old dishes--this happened at least 50% of the time resulting in us getting our own rinks.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Fitness center was was not vented well, so much coughing and sweating going on---uggh! Plus most activities had charges except for a few besides the shows and movies. Movie screening room had only 35 chairs--had to be there 45 minute before to get a seat. Then we found we could watvh the same movies on our tv in the cabin .
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Shows and entertainers were very good and some were better than the rest.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Our housekeeping was great--service in lido was not so good as related above. People pushing alcoholic beverages were relentless tho!
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Clean but carpet in some places needed replacing.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
After complaining of vibration and noise similiar to a bowling ball hitting our wall and floors every 30 seconds for over a week, they moved us to another which was apparently being used by someone!! Floors were dirty. mini-bar empty (which they tried to charge us for) The balcony doors rattled but at least the "bowling ball" was gone.
Ship tip
Do NOT book a room anywhere the front--midship or back. Plan on spending ALOT on extras.
Large island--did not have plans to do alot of excursions because of expene being on a budget because we are on a fixed income and with the trip and Christmas coming up----
We have done the round trip to Hawaii out of Vancouver several times in both April and September/October. April can be a bit bouncy but the fall has always been smooth sailing.
KLBway, I wouldn't do a December crossing, we too were on the 18 day Hawaii cruise, the water was very, very rough, they said that was normal for December, wish I would of known, a few years back my sister crossed in February and she said it was as smooth as glass..... I was on sea sick pills for all of our sea days, so happy to be on land once we got to Hawaii.... Hawaii was worth every wave.....
Thanks for the review. I am looking at a possible Hawaiian cruise in the future and these reviews are helping me to narrow down which one I might take.
