Don't pay to do/ride the "North Star" on a sea day. On a sea day all you will see is water. Instead make a booking on a port day. Schedule it fora time that is convenient for you. Just prior to getting of or right after getting back on from a shore excursion.

The Rome port is an hour away from the airport. I found the transportation the cruise line provides was expensive. Also, expect there to alway be a long line at Guest Services if you have questions.

This was a very busy 12 night cruise. Be prepared for active ports filled with sightseeing. Use the at sea days to rest and recover.

Get info up front on how (where) to get on the ship and detailed instructions for each day's port facilities and transportation needs and costs. The port you actually land at is not necessarily near the city they advertise (Ephesus, Athens, Santorini, etc.)

Look out for free jewelry moments and free champagne moments, check your daily itinerary. Music at the bar is lovely

Do not book excursions in every port. Many can be done without an excursion. Would give opportunity to just stop and enjoy the wonderful places we visited.

Ship is fine. Check daily activities which were repetitive and not varied enough for a transcontinental cruise.

I think that the specialty restaurants are a plus on the Odyssey. Chops and Giovannis were our favorites.

Get your bearings early. Always remember that the Windjammer and dining room is at the back of the ship. The theatre is at the front of the ship usually around deck 5. The solarium is at the front of the ship on deck 14.
