Review summary

This was our first visit to the Caribbean which was thoroughly enjoyable (other regular Caribbean travellers had different opinions) During our cruise, we did a part transition of the Panama Canal. This was a wonderful experience. We will definitely do the Caribbean again.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Easy and Straight forward. Although there was a shortage of Porters on arrival at the dock so we moved our own luggage to the loading point.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
All eating establishments provided a full and varied menu.

Horizon Grill

5 out of 5

Horizon Grill-The Beach Hut: Well worth making a reservation, especially if the weather is what it should be. Everyone is out to make sure you have a wonderful evening.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There seemed to be plenty of choice.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Top class entertainment. Something for everyone.

Footlights Theatre

5 out of 5

Frogwell Flax was an absolute must. We watched 3 completely different shows by the man. Is final finale was just out of this world.

Children's Programs

No children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All service personnel could not do enough for you.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The Oceana is a pleasant ship, clean and well maintained, for a ship of 15+ years.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin was acceptable for us. Due to the duration of our cruise, we did find it a little short of storage space. The cabin steward (Jason) was a very concehentious person who stepped up to each request made immediately.

Ship tip

Enjoy a meal in the Beach Hut.

Ports of call

St. John's, Antigua

3 out of 5
We only ventured as far as the immediate area, we didn’t do an excursion on this occassion. We walked to the local church only to find that it was derelict and the gates chained up.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten Did not visit port

The cruise didn’t call here due to the recent hurricane. We visited St. Kitts and Nevis, which was a brilliant place. We did do an excursion.

Tortola, British Virgin Islands Did not visit port

Due to recent hurricanes this port was cancelled.

Falmouth, Jamaica

5 out of 5
Falmouth has a lovely quayside shopping complex. This is a s far as we ventured. We didn’t do a shore excursion on this occassion.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
The dockside complex at Costa Maya is fantastic with a bar side beach/swimming area. The opportunity to swim with dolphins is also available within the complex as well as plenty of restaurants and shops.

Roatán, Bay Islands

5 out of 5
Unfortunately today it rained and boy did it rain. We did go on a shore excursion to the East of the island but due to the inclement weather some of the views were restricted. The dockside complex was fantastic with cable cars and beach area. However, due to the rain not a lot was seen.

Puerto Limon, Costa Rica

4 out of 5

Oranjestad, Aruba

5 out of 5
Aruba is another lovely island. We didn’t do a shore excursion but walked into town which is very flat and clean.

Castries, St. Lucia

4 out of 5

Bridgetown, Barbados

4 out of 5

Ponta Delgada, Azores

5 out of 5
Really liked Ponta Delgada. We did our own walking tour of this town, which was very enjoyable and within easy access of the dock.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation went without a hitch and very smoothly.
