Review summary

My family of 8. Went on a 9 day cruise to Alaska. We had 3 suites and one balcony cabin for my nephews. We had 3 really bad days of rough sea. A few days a bad weather and a few sunny days. I was stuck in my room for 6 days with a sinus cold. My Bulter and Steward where always around helping. They family did a few port. They did not like Ketchikan at all. You had to get a bus to get there since it's not docked near it. They missed the lumber jack show but were given money backs since it was booked through cruise. They had to wait 2 hours in line to get a bus back to ship. That was really only problem besides a few rough days at sea. Juneau wa beautiful and sunny. The only way to go is with a suite to get all the little extras like breakfast and lunch at Cagneys.

We sat in VIP suite until we were taken on board by our concierge Teo. While we waited they had variety of drinks and snacks for you.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We only ate in Main dinning room once. The first night. It was chaos food was not great. Ate at Cagneys steak house alot. If you are in a suite you can have breakfast and lunch there every day. The French onion soup and the Brie Burger at lunch was amazing.

Cagney's Steakhouse

The food was great.

Onboard Activities

My nephews loved the hot tub. Few days it was closed for rough seas and weather.

Sun Club Casino

It had good slots. Did not care for the smoking in there. Chairs were to big to be back to back for small isles where slots are.

Entertainment

Our family spent most of our free time in the casino. We all won money there.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
My room steward Deo and my Butler Narciso were amazing. I had a sinus cold and stuck in my cabin the first 6 days of the trip. While the rest of my family went to port I was in my room Deo kept coming and cleaning my room even though I told him he didnt have to twice a day. He just kept cleaning, Narciso my butler kept me stocked up with hot tea and juices. Most of my meals were in my room and he would always have a set table for me. Even the Concierge Teo would send cards or call and check on me making sure I didn't need anything.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship was very clean. We have 3 really bad days at sea with 14 ft swails. Captain said it was the roughest he had in years. There were Barf bags placed all over the ship and crew were helping people walk when it got bad.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
My suite was amazing. Large bathroom/closet. So much storage. Double vanity, shower/tub jet combo and separate shower and toilet room. Large bed, family/dinning room was very nice. My steward cleaned twice a day and would come put my balcony deck furniture out every day. My butler kept my nespresso machine stock up and ice filled. They always had bowls of peanut M&Ms, snack mixes and gummy bears on the table. Every afternoon was canapés or other snacks they would bring in.

Ship tip

If you are going for more then 7 days definitely splurge for the upgrade and get the suite. So many advantages with it. Priority on and off ship, breakfast and lunch in specialty restaurants, large cabin, and staff to help with everything. I wish I can bring my butler home!

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

Not a fan of Seattle. Came in few days ahead. Love my hotel(Embassy Suites Pioneer Square) but thought the city was really dirty and saw some many people on drugs just sitting in the middle of sidewalks

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

Little cloudy but it was pretty.

Juneau, Alaska

It was sunny and we had a tour guide take us around. He said the best place to see Bald eagles is near a trash dump and sure enough he took us to one and there were Bald eagles in the trees. There were photographers climbing up all around to take pictures. Went to Mandenhall Glacier got some amazing pictures. Had lunch at Hanger on the Warf. Great food.

Just got of the ship to go to the gift shop at the end of the dock. Sister in law went into to town on pedicab tour and they said it was beautiful and the guide told them all about the city.

Disembarkation

Our concierge had us meet him at the Windjammer bad so we didn't have to wait in the lines to get off the ship.

I've heard many say a suite is the only way to go. But that appears to be about $10,000 semolians higher than a base room.

Thank you for sharing your cruising experience. Sorry to hear you were ill, hopefully you have recovered. Alaska is so beautiful, been there twice and probably will go in a couple of years.
