Review summary

This was our second time cruising with Norwegian and our first on the Norwegian Sun. We loved our cabin, a superior inside stateroom. We had been upgraded and was pleasantly surprised at the comfortable accomodations. Lots of storage and a great sitting area. This came in handy since we were traveling with 3 other couples and we could visit each other! The ship was very well maintained and there was always someone around to help you and take care of you. Our cabin stewart was exceptional. We only ate at the main resturant, garden cafe and also tried the pizza, pasta and sandwiches located in another area. Our food was often great and at the least good. We both used the exercise facility and loved the new treadmills, bikes and eliptical trainers. This is our 6th cruise and was very pleased with the ship and staff overall.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

Our 4th visit here and are very comfortable visiting on our own. We rented 2 jeeps and rode around the island. We visited a nature park and lighthouse. We also walked the coast and shopped - ate - etc. We love all of this area and find the natives to be wonderful to talk with.
Don't Miss: Traveling up to the lighthouse and seeing that beautiful coast!!! Also, climb up the lighthouse - views are wonderful!

Santo Tomas De Castilla, Guatemala

There were 8 of us and we took a boat tour that went around the coast and up the Rio Dulce. We visited the town of Livingston. Along the way we expored a new cave just found and visited a natural hot spring. We were also able to visit a "Castille" and loved every minute of our tour. Karla was our guide and did a great job!!

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

We had been here once before and saw the ruins - loved that. This time we only shopped, ate and visited the fishing village. The food was very good and we had coconuts at the village. Just an average day - wouldn't visit there again.
Don't Miss: The ruins - if you haven't seen any. Always climb to the top if you can - it is breathtaking and worth the effort!

Belize City, Belize

We had also been here before and did the snorkel/scuba thing. This time we took a long ride (almost 2 hours) to visit the ruins. They were beautiful and we enjoyed it. The we came back to Old Belize beach to eat and sunbath.
Don't Miss: Need to scuba or snorkel here - do not miss!! We should have done it again.

Pros: The ports visited were great and we enjoyed the trip down the Mississippi. The staff was very friendly on the ship, especially our cabin stewart.

Cons: You had to walk through the Garden Cafe to get to the pool area. It took too long to get our luggage to the stateroom, almost 5 hours after we had been on the ship.
