The bartender staff was superb.  Especially Safraz, Wilson, Florencinco, and Francisco.  The Texas Hold'em dealers were GREAT.  The cabin was better than expected.  

Overall, we thought the cruise NCL Star cruise to the Western Caribbean was well run and enjoyable. But unlike our experience on the NCL Sun cruise to Alaska, the Star seemed to fill all public spaces with loud music night and day. Who really needs to hear cheesy recorded hiphop when they're eating breakfast, or hear some loud band playing old covers when they're enjoying an afternoon drink at an inside bar? At times it was even difficult to communicate with staff at the admin desk because of the constant racket in the atrium. This obsession with background noise seems especially inappropriate when you consider the advanced age of the average passenger. In our opinion, the Star needs to provide more quiet times and spaces for people who simply want to read, doze or have normal conversations, without having to retreat to some remote corner of the deck. Maybe this would apply to other cruise ships as well.

My husband and I went on our first cruise to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary.  It had to be just about the best vacation we have ever been on.  Everyone we met from the Tampa Bay Port when we arrived through the cruise and back to Tampa Bay to disembark were very accommodating and friendly.  We had a picture window stateroom, which was very compact, yet we never felt cramped.  There was enough room for the two of us to move around and do what we had to.  It was very updated and clean.  We had the same room attendant for the entire week.  He was friendly and very accommodating.  We especially loved the animal towel sculptures he left on our bed every evening before we turned in for the night.  The ship was big and beautiful, and we still had some difficulty finding our favorite venues after a week onboard.  We had the Ultimate Beverage Package, which allowed us as many alcoholic drinks as we liked up to a $15 value.  There were bars aplenty throughout the entire ship, and the bar tenders made our drinks to order.  I loved the Mudslides with extra chocolate.  We did not pay extra for any Specialty Dining restaurants.  However, there were four restaurants that were complimentary with waiter service.  After being seated, the waiter would place a linen napkin on your lap and hand you the menu.  It felt like specialty dining to me.  The food was very good as was the selection.  The Market Buffet (complimentary) had a different food theme every night; and every evening  from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm they put out some finger sandwiches, tacos, desserts, etc. for late night snacking.  If you liked partying until after midnight, O'Sheehan's (complimentary) was open until 4:00 am.  Every night in the Stardust Theater we saw a different show:  singing, dancing, comedy, even a hypnotist.  The talent of these performers was so excellent that they could easily have been on a Broadway stage.  Every staff member from porters, to waiters, to customer service, to the cruise activity staff were always accessible, accommodating, and very friendly.  In sum, we had such a wonderful time that we purchased an on-board deal for two future cruises with NCL.

We had a fantastic cruise with our group of 21!  We enjoyed the entertainment and were able to get seating at all shows.  The Port selection was ideal as was the choice of excursions.  The shopping on board was good.  The General Store, though lacked an interesting assortment from which to choose.  While the drinks were perfect, more service was needed in the bars. The food was good but not great - specifically in The Versailles and Aqua dining rooms.   We enjoyed La Cucina very much but wished we could had dined at Cagneys earlier than the available 9pm time frame. The cabin was comfy, however the bed and pillows were too hard.  The staff was very courteous and accommodating.  Lastly, additional directional signs on the ship would have been helpful.

I feel that because most people has the unlimited beverage package on this cruise and the staff had already received the tips they did not take drink orders like on other cruises, and the dining room staff also did not take drink orders. I was also told by Cheap Cruises that I would get a $100 casino credit and when I attempted to get the credit while on the ship I was told I couldn't have it. After arriving home I called my travel agent and she told me I booked a day to late for the credit, however the reason I booked on that Monday was because she was not able to book my cruise on Sunday, and was never told by her that it would make a difference, as a matter of fact when I made payment she told me I had the credit, very disappointed in the service I received from Cheap cruises.

IT WAS A VERY GOOD TIME THANK U..... :) THE SHIP WAS BEAUTIFUL AND VERY CLEAN SOME OF THE STAFF WAS NICE AND SOME NOT SO NICE BUT i DID'NT LET THAT WORRY ME. THE PLACES WE WENT TO WAS ALOT OF FUN PLAIN TO GO AGAIN.... THANKS FOR A GOOD TIME....

Leaving from Tampa, we found the Port was easy in and out, and the Valet parking was definitely a plus. We were off to Honduras, Belize, and Mexico which were a couple of new ports for us. The food was excellent, as well as the entertainment. The service for the most part, was great with the exception of our cabin steward. He didn't seem to pay attention to detail, forgetting things like leaving one towel instead of two, or no bathmat. Our guess was that he was new and with time, he'll get better.

Overall, I would Highly Recommend this ship when it comes back from Europe, and I would definitely take this cruise again!

Honduras beaches were amazingly snorkeling at Belize was great Costa Maya amazing Beach day Cozumel had fun at the local bars overall the experience was amazing would do it again in a heartbeat

I purchased a 5 meal specialty dining package and, once on-board, could only make reservations for 3 nights, with no choice of time. I ate at the same specialty restaurant twice, since that was all that was available. One night I ate at 5:30 and another night at 9:15. I purchased a $50 spa certificate that remains unused. The only thing I could get for $50 was a haircut and beard trim. There were no breakfast room service order forms in my room or any laundry bags. I had to find a steward each time I needed them. Getting off the ship was unclear. I had no information on luggage, times, and luggage tags. I ended up walking off the ship carrying several pieces of luggage, with difficulties on the stairs and the escalators. 

Other than those minor inconveniences, it was a great 7 days. I highly recommend their other cruises; the 15-day Norwegian Capitals cruise in Europe, the Panama Canal, Jamaica and South America 15-day cruise, and the 7-day Hawaii cruise.

the was clean the people that worked  on the ship had a smile  you you each day.. The free unlimited drinks were the best. Food at restaurants better that other cruise s but buffet has like Ryan's. Need to add chairs on smoking side of ship. Overall great cruise good rooms and great people !

The stops were a lot of fun and we had a great time on excursions, but thankfully there weren't many sea days. There was not much to do on the ship. We have cruised many times before and always fill our days with activities but on this ship we did a lot of movie watching in our cabin because nothing pulled us out of our room.

The Norwegian Star had very nice specialty restaurants and we enjoyed the smaller ship. Crew members were very nice also. Negatives were the small pool and fight for deck chairs every morning. I saw grown men arguing over who "had" chairs. Folks just started moving towels after a few hours of them being empty.

It was our family's first and last cruise. Not our thing

GREAT TIME HAD BY ALL.....FIRST I WANT TO SAY BEFORE I BOOKED I READ REVIEWS AND THERE WAS SOME CONCERN ON MY PART.  HOWEVER I KNOW YOU CAN NEVER PLEASE SOME PEOPLE.  SO I BOOKED OUR CRUISE.  ONE THING I MUST SAY IS WE HAD ***NO*** ISSUES AT ALL.  EVERYTHING WAS GREAT.....I DONT KNOW IF HE WILL EVER GET ANY CUDO'S FROM THIS NEXT COMMENT BUT MR. SWAMPNIL OUR SERVER FORM BREAKFAST IN O'SHEEANS THEN HE WAS OUR SERVER IN LA' BISTRO AT NIGHT.  THE FOOD WAS AMAZING, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY MR. SWAMPNIL (OUR SERVER), WAS SUCH A GREAT ADDITION TO OUR MEAL THAT WE WANTED TO BOOK RESERVATIONS TO EAT AT LA' BISTRO THE NEXT NIGHT.  THEY WERE BOOKED UP.  AT BREAKFAST I MENTIONED TO HIM WE TRIED TO MAKE RESERVATIONS AGAIN BUT THEY WERE BOOKED AND HE STATED FOR US TO LET HIM SEE WHAT HE COULD DO.  WHEN WE GOT BACK TO OUR ROOM THERE WAS A MESSAGE ON OUR PHONE.  YOU WANNA GUESS WHO IT WAS?  YES IT WAS SWAMPNIL WITH GREAT NEWS FOR US.  HE WAS ABLE TO OBTAIN RESERVATIONS NOT ONLY FOR MYSELF AND MY WIFE, BUT FOR THE COUPLE TRAVERLING WITH US.  ANOTHER GREAT MEAL WITH THE BEST SERVER ON THE SHIP.

We have been on several cruises with various cruise lines, but this was our first Norwegian cruise.  We went on the cruise with mediocre expectations as our last cruise with another unnamed cruise line did not go so well.  I must say that Norwegian exceeded our expectations in almost every aspect.  The food was wonderful, the shows and entertainment were worthy of Vegas and maybe even Broadway, and the Norwegian Star was an excellent ship.  We particularly enjoyed the Freestyle Cruising that Norwegian markets.  Being able to choose your dinner time was very nice and the specialty restaurants were wonderful.  I would recommend the Specialty Dining package for at least a few nights, but the main dining areas were also really good.   Add in the Beverage package and it made for a cruise that is very hard to beat.  Thanks Norwegian for a great vacation! Since I am no longer a virgin Norwegian; we are ready for our next Norwegian.  Once you go Norwegian, you never go back, I'm told.   

We tried a new cruise line and we were horribly disappointed. The food, entertainment (or lack there of) communication was the worse thing i have ever experienced. You book a cruise outside of quality and you will receive this. I will travel on norwegian cruise line again. Go carnival all the way.

The embarkation and specially the disembarkation process was fast without any problem.  The food was very good, specially in the Market there was variety and good quality. Specialty restaurant Moderno churrasqueria was delicious.The staff was helpful and nice. The Entertainment was very good specially all the shows in the Stardust lounge and the Comedy was really good. All the ports were beautiful and full of activities to do (I cant choose my favorite) . I didn't rated excellent because of : 

-Security- There is no security available in the lounges and/or bars. We had a situation with a drunk man; and we have to wait more than five minutes to get security in the area. There were a lot of underage kids drinking alcohol and also if you had security the DJ doesn't have to say all the time that they cant be in the area after certain hour.  Also, the bartenders has to know when they can not give more drinks to the guests. 

We had a wonderful trip. The cruiseline staff were all so fun and happy. They made the trip even more special. The ship was a bit old, but I love the smaller ships and how easy they are to get around. The food was terrific. And I even got some of the recipes to take home. The only reason I didn't give the trip a 5 star rating was because of a few things I didn't like. I. Felt there were too many smoking areas. When going to the pool I invariably had to walk thru smoke! I also felt that in the dining rooms there should be a No Phone Cell policy. Unfortunately in this day and age some people do not have common sense or common courtesy . We actually a couple face timing with their family at dinner. Several tables around them left the dining room in an effort not to approach them and tell them how inconsiderate they were being. Other than these two things I thought the trip was awesome!

As first time cruisers, we have heard the bad and the good from other cruisers.  It is really what you make of it.  We had a wonderful time, great weather,  great service from staff, excellent food choices, and really professionally run excursions.  Cabin was clean and well kept by staff, any needs were attended to as soon as possible.  The kids really enjoyed the kids club, never wanted to leave it, made lots of friends.  I have to say they had a excellent kids staff.  We will definitely cruise Norwegian again.
