Very weak cruise overall. The outside performers they brought on were good (Karl Loxley and "White Magic") but the onboard singers and dancers were like watching a weak high school production.
The food was the worst I've ever had on a cruise and the stateroom attendant was not helpful. The worst was having to wait in line for 30 minutes each night to get a table for dinner. This freestyle dining option is terrible.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
Great itinerary, perfect amount of stops and days but this way my 12th cruise and undeniablely the worst food, cruise director's staff, activities, entertainment, stateroom attendants, and overall service EVER! Very disappointed in the Star and NCL. Won't be cruising with them again.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
The food was constant slop. Terrible quality, selection (unless you were willing to pay for cost restaurants) and display. Very, very disappointing.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
There were almost no onboard activities. I can understand that it's an older ship that doesn't offer all the amenities of the newer ships but there was nearly nothing to do on board. It was a good thing we were at such interesting ports of call.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Embarkation was okay. Not very organized but fine.
Children's Programs
No young kids in our group.
Service and Staff
1 out of 5
Probably the overall rudest cruise staff I've experienced to date (12 cruises).
Cruise Director's staff was crude, rude and never seemed interested in making this vacation a good and memorable experience. Stateroom attendant never even introduced himself even after we did. We had to call EVERY single day for more towels and 4 of the 9 days he never even brought them; we had to constantly bring extra towels from the pool to our room to have enough.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
Cleanliness was fine but design was weak; it's an older ship and doesn't offer much.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
Room felt old and dingy. Needs to be refreshed.
Ship tip
Choose another ship if you're interested in a full cruise experience. Also, don't go with the ship's tours. Very limited compared to all the options that are available as soon as you step off the ship.
A very nice surprise. Didn't have high expectations but really a beautiful spot. We hired a local to show us around for 2 hours. Perfect amount of time and only about 80 euros.
Absolutely stunning. TAKE THE DONKEYS!! The cruise scares you out of doing it but one of the most memorable and fun memories of this trip! Absolutely take!
Loved Athens! Take the "Hop On, Hop Off" Red bus. For 20 euros a person, you see the entire city, get to explore and are given details of what you're looking at and all the history.
Rhodes was really lovely. Spent the morning walking around the old town fortress and the afternoon exploring the more modern part outside the fortress and went to the beach. For 8 euros a person we lounged on the beach on lovely day beds.
Argostoli was the weakest stop on the cruise. Not much to do there. We were there on May 31, 2019 and were only the second NCL cruise ship to ever go there. They don't have the infrastructure or things to do for when the big cruises come into port, at least yet.
