Review summary

All in all my husband and I had a wonderful trip and look forward to going on our next cruise!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
No lines, walked right from dropping off bags onto the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The main dining staff was very attentive, helpful and accommodating. The buffets were well manned and very clean. I observed the staff checking times that the food was out and when it was out too long, it would be removed. The cleanup staff was constantly cleaning all services including chairs, rails, tables etc.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We were mostly in the pool/hot tubs and they were not crowded like most ships. There was plenty of chairs for lounging for at sea days. The walking track was also very nice and maintained.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The DJ was really good but the music at the pool was WAY too load for the age range of most cruisers. They also didn't turn off the music when the captain came over the loud speaker. We did go to the stage shows and they were good for 'cruise entertainment'

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward was fantastic and was always available when we needed anything. The waiters were always very pleasant and went out of there way to help or get anything we asked for.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The layout and design was very easy to remember and navigate. The crew was constantly cleaning all areas of the ship all day and night.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We very much enjoyed our cabin. It was a great size for us. The bed and couch were very comfortable and our room was very clean.

Ports of call

Cartagena, Colombia

5 out of 5
We did the Chiva Party Bus excursion and had a wonderful time. We were taken around Cartagena for sign seeing and taken to a shopping area that was very nice.

Panama Canal Transit

5 out of 5
The transit was really cool to see and the main reason we went of this ship. It was very interesting to see how the ships are transported between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

Puntarenas, Costa Rica

We went on the Crocodile safari boat and Train ride. This really should be called 'bird watching'. We saw a total of 3 baby crocodiles but a LOT of different birds. The guide said we were lucky to see so many crocodiles.... The traditional dance was about 7 minutes long and then you are in a little shopping area. We were then taken by bus to the train ride. The train went about 5 mph directly through a very poor area. There were shacks, garbage and filth of both sides of the ride. We were very disappointed in this excursion.

Puerto Corinto, Nicaragua

We did not go on an excursion at this port but we did get off the ship to do a little shopping and to look around. There were a lot of locals peddling items and were pretty forceful and would fallow you if you seemed even half interested if what they were selling. There was plenty of police presence so it did not feel unsafe. They have bike pushed carts for $5 an hour that will take you around the town which was really fun.

Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala

4 out of 5
We took the courtesy bus to an enclosed shopping area that was very safe and had good prices.

Acapulco, Mexico

We did the Acapulco Cliff Divers & San Diego Fort. If your ship is in port on a Monday, DO NOT buy any excursion to the San Diego Fort! It is closed every Monday and we were not told until we got on the ship and I had booked a month before the trip. Also, the Fort is literally across the street from the port and you can easily get pictures from the ship. When we got off the ship, we waited in line to get on the bus for 20 minutes, then it took 40 minutes to drive to the cliffs to see the divers and by the time we got there, we were the last bus and had the worst views to watch. After the divers we were sent across the street for shopping in 1 shop with silver and other trinkets. We were then taken back to the ship that only took 10 minutes. We were dropped off just outside and told that we could walk across the walk way and see the OUTSIDE of the San Diego Fort.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Anyone who has been on a cruise knows that disembarking is the worst part of the cruise. I was disappointed in how Norwegian's process was handled. We were called by color and the line snaked from the back of the boat to the front on the inside, then from front to back on the outside, then front to back again at the terminal.
