Great cruise! There were... by Nortondj

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Pearl

Great cruise! There were ten of us and we had a great time. The food was good, the music was fun. The comedian was really good. The shows were just ok. The excursions were great and the cruise through the Inside Passage was phenomenal! We made reservations for dinner in the MDRs each night that we were on the boat they were either at 5:30 or 8:00, so we never tried to stand in line for certain times. No lobster. Bar tenders, waitstaff, steward all were FABULOUS!

We had a mid ship... by julie68

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Pearl

We had a mid ship balcony room. The room was small. Even for ship standards. It was small. The food service (except for specialty restaurants!) was slow. So slow the food was barely warm when we got it. It was common to wait an hour (no exaggeration) after ordering to get food - longer for drinks! The entertainment was mediocre at best. A few employees really stood out and outshined the rest for customer service. We paid too much for the service that we received. We went to Alaska from Seattle. The trip itself- the views and excursions - were outstanding! The ship??? I would not recommend NCL to anyone.

Alaska Cruise (Inside Passage) Norwegian Pearl 8/12-8/19 2018 by Leahluv

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Great trip to experience a taste of Alaska, felt gouged on price, service fees, gratuities, etc., not enough parent & toddler programs available. Too much time spent on ship where there is nothing to do except for paid activities, eat & drink. Don't need to do again.

A trip I will NEVER forget! by cougarbrian

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The cruise was exceptional, a trip of a lifetime. I heard horror stories about disembarkation from others, yet NCL’s was seamless.

Fun and Relaxation in Alaska by BudgieMama

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

An excellent experience overall. As a European guest, my cruise fell into the Premium All Inclusive package, and it was perfect. No worrying about food, drink or tips all week. Everything was included, and it made for a stress free trip. The itinerary was fabulous, especially as our trip featured Glacier Bay, which was a real highlight for the trip. Staff always friendly and helpful (with the exception of our rather lacklustre Stateroom Steward, but we didn't let him spoil things!) The ship is clean and well maintained, and a wonderful size. Plenty of activities to keep us busy, always well fed and plenty of delicious cocktails to try! We would definitely choose Norwegian again, especially their Jewel Class ships (as the size is perfect for us- we don't like the look of the bigger ships) as Freestyle is perfect for us seeking a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

Awesome Cruise by Joandouglas

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We had a wonderful experience. We took our adult daughter and she enjoyed it immensely also. Our stateroom was quite adequate for the 3 of us. Her drop down bed....not too comfortable, though.

Haven’t gone on many cruises... by CruiseNorwegian

Haven’t gone on many cruises but this one was amazing. The pearl has everything I could ever want on a cruise ship. It is also a beautiful looking ship. 5 stars easy.

I agree with the other... by nathanmaier

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Pearl

I agree with the other passengers. The Pearl is lacking and things like debarkation are done sloppily. This recurring problem is also documented in travel guidebooks, but I wrongly assumed that it wouldn’t happen to me. Why did the cruise line workers act like it was perfectly normal to take 1 hour and 15 minutes to get off the boat causing many to miss excursions? I could not believe the lack of empathy or understanding the cruise service desk had with me when I spoke with them when I got back on the boat. He actually implied that it was my fault. I won’t be using Norwegian in the future.

Awesome Alaska Cruise! by Alohamomma

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This was a wonderful experience which changed my mind about taking more vacations by ship...I will be doing this much more! The staff was well trained and very courteous. The Captain and his crew did a remarkable job of maintaining a smooth ride. The beauty of Alaska and Canada were unapparelled.

The trip of a lifetime! by dkoers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This was our first cruise, but it certainly won't be our last. The staff on the Pearl treated us like royalty. We enjoyed every minute of our cruise - it's just that it went too fast and there were many things going on board the ship that we didn't have time to participate in.

Great Cruise by Britain22

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The ship is one of the best we have ever sailed on. the crew was friendly, easy to deal with. The food in all of the restaurants we ate in were way above par and even above expectations. Our room was one we never wanted to leave and was well appointed. All in all our cruise could not have been better. The ports were great and the excursions were very nice.

We (group of 6 ranging... by cshaw1

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Pearl

We (group of 6 ranging from 12-70) had a great time on our Alaskan cruise! From the friendly staff, cozy cabins (plenty of storage), tasty food and drinks, amazing views, and entertainment, we were all very pleased. We spent a lot of time exploring the ship and finding fun spots to enjoy drinks, card games, and each others’ company. Our favorite place to dine was the Summer Palace, although we tried each of the included restaurants (+la Cucina one night). We ended up in the hot tubs multiple times throughout the week. It’s really nice on chilly nights when the deck is quiet! Our shore excursions were loads of fun and totally worth the price. Here’s a list of the ones we did- Juneau- whale watching Skagway- Chilkoot trail hike and float. We also walked over to the Gold-rush Cemetery and took a short(easy) hike up to Lower Reid Falls. Ketchikan- Wilderness Exploration and crab feast Victoria- I do wish we had a little more time in Victoria, but I knew going in that it was going to be brief. We had the perfect amount of time to take a cab to Butchart Gardens- amazing! I was happy to learn about the less expensive souvenir prices in Ketchikan before our trip- it was absolutely true! I do encourage you to find locally owned stores in ports to purchase your take-home treasures. They can be a little trickier to find, but they are marked on the door/ window of the shops. Cruising Glacier Bay was our favorite day of the cruise. It exceeded our expectations and it is an experience we will always cherish. I recommend bringing binoculars especially for this! They do sell them on the ship if you forget. There are many opportunities to spend extra money on the ship, but you can always say no and still have a great time. Cruises are what you make of them. If you choose to go enjoy, relax, and have fun, you will!

I travelled to the other side of the world to buy diamonds and tanzanite, NOT!!! by notatwork

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Had to call twice to get the heat on in my cabin in the first 24hrs, it was cold, I was given an extra blanket when I asked for it. Then on the second day got a letter to tell me my balcony would be painted so I could not use it for a day and had to keep the door closed due to paint fumes (so glad I spent extra for the that). The cabin was at the end of the corridor and every day I found that the cleaner had parked his cleaning trolley and linen skip outside my door. I also found that other passengers put their leftover plates of food on the floor next to my door ? to be put into the rubbish by the cleaner. I had dinner in the more up market dining room, the Summer Palace, food was good. However as a solo person I didn't need the hostess looking as though I had purposely arrived to ruin her day. I guess taking up an entire table for two is terrible in an almost empty restaurant. I was sat at the other side of the return dishes point in the Asian restaurant, again sitting next to the window taking up an empty table for two not possible. At this time I figured I should just tell them I had intended to come with my husband but you know he died before we got to make this trip. They had an art history lecture that was very good, however they chose to have it next to a bar with a couple of loud drunk American women screaming like banshees, not that clever. The scenery however left me in awe and I loved that part of it. There could have been more first nation experiences but I suppose Alaska is not Canada in that way. In conclusion, I would not do this trip again. I don't like the hard sell. MSC cruise around the med was soooo much better.

Ship in dire need of... by karengayle

Ship in dire need of an upgrade. Dated decor and food throughout was not good. Crew was dismissive and at times rude except for cabin steward. Going back to Carnival Cruises where we’ve never had a bad experience.

NCL Pearl last week was... by Rdwolt

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Pearl

NCL Pearl last week was great. We did the Jewel 6yrs ago with 18 extended family members. Five in our group with 2 cruising newbies and my sis-in-law who had never been on NCL. Everyone loved it, especially The Great Outdoors deck where we lived. My wife insisted on wifi to read her newspapers and I can report it is fast! Enjoy the ride and don't sweat the small stuff. :)
