Review summary
Had to call twice to get the heat on in my cabin in the first 24hrs, it was cold, I was given an extra blanket when I asked for it. Then on the second day got a letter to tell me my balcony would be painted so I could not use it for a day and had to keep the door closed due to paint fumes (so glad I spent extra for the that). The cabin was at the end of the corridor and every day I found that the cleaner had parked his cleaning trolley and linen skip outside my door. I also found that other passengers put their leftover plates of food on the floor next to my door ? to be put into the rubbish by the cleaner. I had dinner in the more up market dining room, the Summer Palace, food was good. However as a solo person I didn't need the hostess looking as though I had purposely arrived to ruin her day. I guess taking up an entire table for two is terrible in an almost empty restaurant. I was sat at the other side of the return dishes point in the Asian restaurant, again sitting next to the window taking up an empty table for two not possible. At this time I figured I should just tell them I had intended to come with my husband but you know he died before we got to make this trip. They had an art history lecture that was very good, however they chose to have it next to a bar with a couple of loud drunk American women screaming like banshees, not that clever. The scenery however left me in awe and I loved that part of it. There could have been more first nation experiences but I suppose Alaska is not Canada in that way. In conclusion, I would not do this trip again. I don't like the hard sell. MSC cruise around the med was soooo much better.Embarkation

Ship tip
Don't get a cabin at the end of a corridor. Apparently thats where the linen skip and cleaning trolley and other peoples rubbish stays, outside the door.
