Lovely Ship and Service by PerryB1

Overall the ship is a winner. Service, cleanliness and beauty are all very good. My only disappointment was with the quality of food served in the 2 main dining areas.

Think Twice before going by HenryA5

Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The food was very routine, real push to pay extra for expected menu. Continual Bingo calls. Room was sat and storage was excellent. Ship was in good condition and all elevators working.

A Cruise only Norwegian could produce. by WallyS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Norwegian Pearl, their largest, was very nice, and very clean. The employees were all very good. The food was very much to my liking, better than other lines we have been on. The only musical group that I really liked was the Hernandez Trio, however they never had them in a venue where one could dance very well. I really enjoyed the assembly that explained some operational aspects of the ship. I was very impressed with their environmental procedures.

It is a wonderful trip. Food, room service, shopping, show , spa, almost everything is perfect. However, due to the strong wave, we didn't get to Bahamas, maybe next time.

Truly a wonderful cruise! by Glen1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We have gone on many, many cruises and many different cruise-lines, this was by far the best cruise-line and ship overall. There are are cruiselines we have liked but this is the best! Would like to have sailings from Port Canaveral (we winter next door in Cocoa Beach).

Not a spectacular cruise by Bs3089572

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We recently sailed on the Norweigen Pearl to the Cozumel,Belize, Honduras and Bahamas. We were traveling with our two year old son. The ship had a central buffet restaurant, two outside buffets that were ok. The food didn't change much everyday. After a while it becomes routine like a cafeteria. You have burgers, pizza, pasta, the same fruits and hardly any seafood. They also have two more formal restaurants that are free. Those were nice and had a little bit more variety. There are also some nice restaurants you can choos to eat at like a sushi bar. french restaurant and bistro. Those are really nice but you have to pay a $10 to $15 cover charge to get in plus a automatic gratuity. This holiday cruise was overpriced for what we got.

a decent time by CorinneW

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship wasn't as new as I expected, and the food was not nearly as good or as large of portions as I had experienced on other cruse lines. The ports were good, but shore excursions should not be booked thru the cruise line because they are way more expensive. Great Stirrup Cay is not something to be excited about, poor snorkeling there. Overall it was decent and the price was right, but you pay for what you get.

UGH.... You don't always get a Bargan! by MelB3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Well this is my 3rd cruise. 1st with Carnival and 2nd with Princess. I chose this cruise with CHEAP being the reason. I took 2 first time teenagers with me. I admired the ship somewhat. Did not care for freestyle dining. We could not make reservations bc there was only 3 of us. We were told we could be seated as we walked up. Well that turned out to be atleast a 45 min wait each time. The first day at sea was Opt formal. We chose to dress formal only this night and dine in the summer palace. The formal dining room which on any night was to be NO jeans. As we were seated I noticed the wait staff was wearing T SHIRTS. The table next to us had jeans and t shirts on. Our waiter was occupied with other waiters so much we never recieved the right order. On the other hand the buffet was the best I have seen. Food was tasty and plentiful. However we were asked to move several times to a different table very rudly. ITS A BUFFET! This seemed to be the chosen place to eat as we always had a hard time getting and keeping a table. If you would leave to get water your table was cleaned and occupied. After 10 pm you cannot get anything it is closed. Also we notices several budding romances between wait staff while they were on duty. Our room was small. However that did not matter as we only slept there and not often. There was several times our room was not made up. I never did know who out steward was???? As other cruise lines make it a point that u know. Entertainment was ok considering the price of the cruise. Hot tubs was not HOT. It was rather cool. No poolside games. One day two teenagers was having sex in the hot tub as several employees walked by not to say a thing. EEEWWWW! This was in daylight while children was around. Pool were salt water and not heated. The main ent. I thought would in the Bliss lounge. Which as I will Quote another review " When does the orgy begin" as it states very clearly. Tho it was not a popular place. The Sky lounge was quite a hot spot. If u want a seat skip out on the main show a little early and get your seat early. The shows there aren't to bad. In the morning of port days I often found myself there with my bionaculars. It was great to get a lounger (oh so soft) and chill. It seemed to be a well hidden secret to most passengers. I found myself there with only a few others. It was so peaceful. Often I would see ppl sleeping there, which I am guilty of. Not saying I would not take it again if the price is right. I know what kind of quality I will be getting.

A OK CRUISE by DenisL2

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Room was not completely cleaned. One day dirty towels were not changed. Only complaint on food was serloin steak in main dinning room was tough, three complaints at our table. Too many bar waiters at pool, always asking if I wanted drinks, over and over in short period of time. Soft drinks too expensive.

A Great Cruise, Too Crowded! by TraciO

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Beautiful ship! The staff was very attentive and always looking to help. The food was great, but gratuity added to EVERYTHING. $30.00 for a six pack of beer. Service charges added per person, per day. The sip gets smaller as time goes on. Not many places to go and be alone and have a private conversation. Loved the entertainment!! The staterooms are beautifully done!! OUr balcony was a must. It's exciting to wake up in a new port and pull the blinds to see the beauty of a new country!

will never sail on norwegian again by VernonG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

didn't like toilet room too small. ship was clean and staff nice, but when time to get off in miami the crew was allowed to get off before the passengers and we had to wait 45 minutes. there were 12 restaurants but only 4 were free and reservations were usually necessary. the others cost extra but we were greatly disapointed. we have been on 5 carinal cruises and all had superior food for instance, norwegian lobster tial night they served one half of a tail. carinival gives you a real lobster tail and as many as you want

A great way to spend Thanksgiving! by LauraT8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall, we had a great time. We LOVED the restaurant choices; the food was great and we didn't mind paying a little extra. By the third day, I hated going to the Garden Cafe (buffet), as it was crowded and offered the same food over and over. The ship, including our adjoining rooms, were clean and well-kept. The pool area was great! We enjoyed most of the enertainment on board...the comdian and comedy troop weren't all that funny. We loved spending the holiday on the ship...it just may be our new family tradition!

Freestyle "The Worst" by LisetteB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My husband and I have travel in other cruises like Royal Caribbean and Carnival and the experience was incredible. NCL does not meet the quality in Service, food and entertainment to the ones above. Some emplpyees were rude and did not give the extra mile to make you feel special. Since is a Freestyle cruise you dont get the special attention from the same servers every night, so they do not really care because they will be tipped anyway at the end. First time in NCL and LAST.

It was ok. by AT431

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was very well decorated. The rooms were very nice. It seemed that the entertainment was just "ok", the food that was not in the specialty restraurants was just "ok" and all of the drinks were overpriced.

Great Ship, but.......... by EddieM3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Pearl was an excellent ship. There are no complaints that can be lodged on the ship itself. The problem was the prices. I have cruised 6 different times, with other lines, and Norwegian was by far the most expensive. Beers were $7.25 a piece and $11 bucks for mixed drinks. The "freesytle" dining is true, but with catches. You pay a cover charge to get into some of the restaurants, only to pay an additional fee for certain things on the menu. To be fair, the other lines do the same, but again, the fee was 2 to 3 times more than the others. You pay a "autogratutity" when you order a drink, and then you are auto charged $10.00 a day per person. I found myself tipping 3 times, and when I learned of the "auto charges" I was made to feel as if I was being cheap when I questioned the charges. I am blessed to make a great living so money is not a problem, but fair is fair. The entertainment was terrible. The best thing that was available was the Second City crew. The comedian was terrible, the singer should give the cruise line back their money and the ships crew was average at best. Not to sound negative, the cruise itself was nice. To be away from work is always a vacation, but if you have ever cruised before, you will instantly notice the difference. Again, the ship is top notch, but Norwegian charges at least double on everything, so its not worth it.
