Review summary

This was an overall fantastic cruise. My minor grumbles did not detract at all from a wonderful experience. I would thoroughly recommend the ship and crew.

Embarkation

No hold ups, very pleasant staff

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The main dining rooms were both very well decorated, Summer Palace light and airy. Indigo quite dramatic and colourful decor. We had breakfast in Summer Palace and dinner in Indigo. Staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. We did not enjoy our dining experience in Lotus Garden. We had to ask to be moved as we were placed next to the kitchen and serving area despite the restaurant being nearly empty. The food was rushed at us. Staff were lovely. Buffet was good, not an extensive choice but always found something good to eat! The best bar on the ship was Magnums, superb barman waiters especially Nikola Bogdanovic and Arturo Samanez. The Spinnaker Lounge was comfortable and we were always able to get a seat. Another stand out waiter John Patrick Layacan. The Atrium did not have enough seating.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the pool area and always seemed to be able to get a lounger in the shade whatever time we went without having to get up at dawn.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The performers around the ship (including Mr Washy Washy) were very good. We were disappointed at the number of productions shows, would have preferred several more. We enjoyed what we went to

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
This was my 20th cruise, only my third on Norwegian but the crew on this ship, the Pearl are all outstanding. The service is brilliant and the crew are always happy to engage with the guests. It seems unfair to single any out for extra praise but John Patrick Layacan, Arturo Samanez and Nikola Bogdanovic were outstanding.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The washrooms were on occasion needing attention. Layout was good. Ship clean and well maintained

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was a little small but perfectly adequate. Beds extremely comfortable. Cabin Steward (Ralph) did a great job and was very responsive to any request

Ship tip

Check that you are not on or have a charter following directly after your cruise. There is major disruption to the pool area on the last day! There was a KISS charter directly after us!

Lisbon, Portugal

2 out of 5
Our visit was compromised by the Lisbon Marathon

Ponta Delgada, Azores

4 out of 5
Lovely to walk around and explore

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

3 out of 5
Due to the curtailing of our stay in Bermuda due to the upcoming charter, our time was limited. We did enjoy what we saw.

Port Canaveral, Florida

1 out of 5
Due to the change in our itinerary to call at Port Canaveral, all guest and crew had to go through immigration. Once through we stood for an hour in 90 degree heat waiting for the beach shuttle to Cocoa Beach, billed as beach and shopping. Shopping comprised several surf type shops, a Wallmart, CVS and other small stores.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Well organised and easy
