Review summary

Our steward was GREAT. The rest of the cruise was a mistake. From the dirty handrails to the 'all about money' attitude that the officers and the 'powers that be' had...it was our last NCL. The price dropped significantly before our cruise and I tried repeatedly to get a reduction in price for the overall cruise, OR a drink package, OR a meal package, OR excursion money....NONE of which was offered or available. EVERYthing cost too much...from laundry service to a glass of wine. Really rediculous. PLUS, I caught the maitre D' giving a 'suite' passenger special priviledges (opening a bar for a couple), AFTER another couple had noticed that the bar was closed and should've already been opened. Didn't matter because the bar tender wasn't opening the bar UNTIL the money folks showed up. PLUS, my relative on the Pearl at the very same time was upgraded from a suite to a better suite for unknown reasons??? Really, now.....that's over the top! PLUS, the spa treatments were much higher than other cruiseships!

My husband is vegan and we ask specifically for vegan choices. ONLY vegetarian choices were offered. PLUS, we BOTH got the noro virus and the ship was more concerned about keeping the sicknesses on the ship quiet than getting us well!

WAs sick so couldn't get off ship . Not there long enough to enjoy anyway.

I could not get packages with out paying more even after they sent me emails to get these packages they said it will cost you more so why send the emails

You get back what you put out . If I'm spending the money on a cruise to Alaska I would make sure not to let little things ruin it for me . You make your own happiness , no one else can do that for you . Best to keep that in mind on your future cruise endeavors. Best of luck!

It's unfortunate people have a bad experience. When I Cruise I make it my responsibility to have a good time. I will notify the appropriate personnel of any issue I am having, and get back to enjoying the cruise. Food on a cruise ship is prepared for in advance, and will not be of the quality of a resturant. NCL had many dining options to explore, plus the Main Dining Room. You have to be realistic about your expectations. The crew works very hard, on a cruise ship, and deserve praise for there efforts, especially the room Stewart and there team. So if your planning a cruise, remember, just enjoy each day, and be positive around others.

Sorry you have had such a bad time. We have our 7th cruise booked with NCL. We have never been disappointed. You will probably be much happier with RC. Hope you have happy cruises in the future.

NCL really is a good cruise line, have been on them several times before. prices always drop as the cruise gets closer to departure date, they want to fill the berths so they're not sailing an empty ship. suite guests do have extra privileged on NCL ships, it's part of why people pay thousands of dollars for a suite on NCL. if your family member reserved a guaranteed room, as opposed to a set room, there is a chance for an upgrade.
