Review summary

We took two first time cruisers with us because we've come to love Norwegian trips. Overall it was a wonderful experience. The staff is so friendly and the food is of high quality though there was less variety on the Alaska cruise then we've seen on the Caribbean ones. The shows were good but not as a varied as on the Caribbean Norwegian cruises we've done. Everything could get a little pricey once you started to add it all up but the best buy we made was the week long pass to the spa facilities.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Great food but not as varied as on previous cruises.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The shows were very well done even if they did repeat a bit during the week. The music is great. I never got the chance to do half of what I wanted as the day was always spent exploring the current port.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Honestly, the staff is the best part of the cruise. Even in the behind the scenes tour we did, everyone was smiling.

Ship Quality

I can never tell the front from the back of the boat but was later taught that the fish on the carpets always point to the front.

Cabin / Stateroom

Laid out better then what we had on the Dawn, it was still a bit cramped from my 6 foot plus husband.

Ports of call

Juneau, Alaska

Eh... it's a major city. I wouldn't spend too long wandering around downtown. Instead grab the tramway up to the top of the mountain or a shuttle out to the Glacier.
Don't Miss: Mendenhall Glacier, Mount Roberts Tramway

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
If you have never been, the 'Best of Skagway' excursion gives you a great overview of the area. If you only do one thing, though, definitely take the train.
Don't Miss: White Pass and Yukon Railway

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
A very cute town routed in the past and present. We saw the lumberjack show and it was a hoot. The duck tour provide a good overview. Also, this is an excellent place to buy salmon.
Don't Miss: Lumberjack Show

Victoria, British Columbia

3 out of 5
Victoria looks so lovely but we were there so late that there wasn't much time to explore. I know that the gardens were kept open for the excursion but we just wanted to relax and enjoy the town.
Don't Miss: Tim Horton's (best donuts ever)

Pros: Food, Ports of Call, Staff

Cons: Pricing
