Norwegian has cancelled 2 cruises that we had booked for 2025. The only compensation is a refund of the money you have spent except the Cruise First credit and a 10% discount on the next cruise. That doesn't even pay for the 30% cruise price increase. They won't honor the price you paid when you booked.
We went on this cruise seeing if Norwegian Joy had really improved. Sadly we weren't impressed.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Was able to walk on, get checked and board the ship. We had to wait 2 hours for our cabin to be ready while carrying around our back packs. It would be nice if they let you go to your cabin to drop your bags, even if the cabin isn't ready.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The buffet was always crowded and we had to wait for tables. Food was "fast food". The Le Birstro had very good food, while Ocean Blue was OK. Main dining was boring after a couple of nights. It was the same menu with a couple of variations.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
A couple of the game shows were entertaining.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
The entertainment on Norwegian ships has gone way down. Performers were subpar. The Elements show is too far out there and once you have seen it you don't care to see it again. We were on the Joy before the refurbish and we couldn't tell that it had been upgraded. Maybe a coat of paint here and there.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Our room steward was friendly and did all that we asked. The waiters in the Taste and Savor were not attentive and friendly. We had to ask for water refills and wine. However the waiters in the main dining area were very friendly and remembered us from the previous times.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Common areas were clean and well maintained
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The cabin area was small and the bed took up most of the room. There are 4-5 inches between the foot of the bed and the TV. And less than that to get into the closet. There were 3 outlets at the vanity for the whole cabin. We needed them by the bed.
We went to Peggy's Cove. It was fun day. We only had an hour at Peggy's cove and needed much more time to eat lunch, visit the area and walk on the rocks.
