Review summary

Overall nice cruise but could be improved. Excursions booked with the cruise line need improvement. Each one we did with them was delayed departure for no reason. Excursion person actually lied to everyone about delay in NYC excursion. Entertainment on the ship was ok, but have had better on other cruises.

Embarkation

Good. Much faster than the last time we cruised with Norwegian.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Buffet food was good and had good variety. Main complementary dining was good but nothing exceptional. Some servers were friendlier than others. Manhattan main dining was overcrowded and extremely noisy, so we only went there once. Specialty dining was good for the 2 places we could book. All main specialty dining locations were booked solid and only late night times available.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Spice H2O area and hot tub was nice and never crowded. Drove the racetrack once. Was fun but should be free instead of costing extra.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Beatles shows were really good and Elements was good. Not impressed with the 80's Broadway review. Just 6 people singing. The comedy acts were just OK and should have been in a larger venue. The Social club was way too small. Live music acts in the Atrium were good.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Waiters were ok. Some were friendlier than others. Room steward was very nice and always had our room cleaned when needed. He remembered our names throughout the entire trip.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Typical layout like other Norwegian large ships. However the Social club room was way too small to handle the large comedy show crowds. Pools are not real large on this ship but were ok since it was cool and not too many people using them. Only two sets of main elevators. Would be nice to have another set somewhere in the middle.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Balcony cabin was typical size and just right for two people. Bed was ok, but have had more comfortable beds on other cruise lines. Room was always cleaned nicely when requested.

Ship tip

Get a cabin close to elevators. Eat in buffet for breakfast and lunch, but main dining rooms or specialty dining are better for dinner.

Sydney, Nova Scotia

Not much to do in Sydney itself, so be sure to book an excursion. Alexander Graham Bell museum was good.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Nice city and lots to see. But booked hop on-hop off through cruise and it was a joke. Better off booking it outside of cruise.

New York, New York

Disembarkation

Had post cruise excursion booked that would take us around the city then on to the airport. Cruise personel held us in the theater an extra 45 minutes past the start time so the excursion had to be cut short and we missed seeing some of the sites.
