Review summary

This is my second NCL cruise, with the last one being in 2015. I don't see myself sailing on NCL again, and I feel NCL is looking for more money and not delivering the service for the price.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Horrible horrible experience. We received on a daily basis over the last 3 days prior to cruise a change in embarkment berth. Finally on the day of embarkment, we were sent to a different berth due to weather, and had to sit and wait about 2 hours longer before being able to board. Once our boarding numbers were called, we were shuttled to the boat, only to have to go through metal detectors in a tent. We were one of the earlier groups, but my understanding was people were waiting in the rain. Once on the ship, our rooms weren't ready until close to 5:00pm, and our luggage wasn't at the rooms either. I had to find my own luggage.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was average at best. We had dinner in 5 of the specialty restaurants, and there was nothing great about it. In the steakhouse, the filet mignon was tough. The MDR was okay.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Average activities. I would refrain from playing Bingo until the last day. It cost anything from $50-$80 to play, and in the first few sessions, prizes ranged from $105 - $250. The lure to get you to play was a $2000+ Bingo prize, but the prizes awarded the first 2 sessions didn't even total $1500 between them

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Footloose was enjoyable, Elements I still don't understand what it was about. I do give the performers kudos on their performances. The Cavern is always packed with people, so we were never able to see the show there.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Some of the Service was good, some not so good. I am not use to being out of my room at 8am and my room not being cleaned until 5pm. I don't blame the steward, I blame NCL for reducing staff and adding more rooms to each steward. Waiters were not focused on what they were doing. At one dinner, 4 people at the table asked for milk with their coffee, and the waiter gave us the coffee, and placed a dish of creamer on the table. In total we found 2 attentive waiters among the staff. While I was on this trip, I developed Covid, and confined to my room for 5 days. I will give credit and kudos to the room service teams for their efficency and responsiveness. My room steward was also very attentive.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship appeared to have a good flow to it. It appeared clean

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
The cabin was the normal balcony size cabin with a larger bathroom. What was terrible about this specific cabin is the location. The Cavern is below and the walls are not soundproof. If you were in your cabin and something pertaining to music was happening in the Cavern, that was all you could hear.

Ship tip

Try to enjoy as much as you can

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Uneventful. We were told to expect 1.5 to 2 hours for disembarkment / customs and we planned accordingly. We were through disembarkment and customs within 30 minutes
