Review summary

This ship was too big to appreciate anything about the time spent on it. The staff was overwhelmed and mostly friendly. Recommend not taking the Joy.

Embarkation

I was on a knee scooter so they made special accommodations for me and my party. It was fast and simple.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
This was the worst food I'd ever had on a cruise. "Big kitchen, Bad food!!"

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
I felt like there was never anything worth doing going on. The theater was too small to accommodate people and you had to make reservations if you wanted to see a show. I've never missed a live performance before because I had to reserve a seat.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The one show I saw was actually very well put on. But I couldn't see anything else because there were just too many people on the ship that wanted to do the same thing and there wasn't room for all of us.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The service of all the staff with the exceptions of the spa and the race track, were exceptional. The spa forgot me twice then acted like I was wasting their time. The race track staff obviously didn't enjoy their jobs and made everyone feel uncomfortable.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
WAY TOO BIG!!! Too many people and not enough room for actual activities and staff. Ship was far too understaffed because there were so many passengers crammed on board.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
13611 was the actual cabin we stayed in. It was nice for an inside cabin. The cleanliness was spot on. Our steward was AMAZING!!!

Ship tip

Book a smaller ship if you want to enjoy any time you spend on it or if you like food.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

So much fun!! Go Dog sledding, but book through someone on shore not the cruise line, you won't regret it.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER Did not visit port

Too foggy to go, had to turn the ship around

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

5 out of 5
AMAZING!!! My husband and I want to go back just to Hoonah and stay a while.

Victoria, British Columbia

Very pretty but again too many people.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
It felt like this was the first time the staff had done this. It was chaos.

Of course it's big! It's one of the largest in the fleet. Seems like a bit more research was in order...

Did you know how big the shop was before you booked? Have you cruised before?
