Review summary

Beautiful ship. Great crew and staff. Wonderful ports. Weather was perfect -- Alaska in July! What more could you want? BTW, the last week of July was perfect.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We basically walked right on the ship. Not a single hitch.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Outstanding meals. The "regular" meals we enjoyed in the restaurants were just as good as the upscale meals. Superb. Excellent service. Great food quality. Many options for "snacks" around the ship.

Teppanyaki

Skip it--try one of the others. Just so-so

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
No swimming etc--this is Alaska! Always something going on if we wanted it.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Don't miss the house band "Albatross Air." TOP-NOTCH! The Elements stage show was probably the weakest link. Overall, all the entertainment was terrific. Exactly what I expected. I would have liked to have seen more of the couple who were the aerialists.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
GREAT crew and staff. But we had a concierge room and the concierge was mostly absentee. One of the two times I called, the phone rang endlessly without the option of leaving a message. The other time was re: disembarkation and he was mostly helpful. There were two "treats" in the cabin from him during the week but we only ate on of them. Too full from the meals. Shouldn't the concierge desk be on the concierge floor?

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Brand new and beautiful. The crew is constantly cleaning.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin 14768. Spacious and expensive! But very nice. I was expecting a little larger but compared to our friends' cabins, it was downright luxury. We were missing the chaise on the balcony I was expecting but we were able to pull out other chairs from the cabin. No towel animals! Is that not a Norwegian thing? Cabin was excellent.

Ship tip

If you're not eating every 45 minutes, you're not trying hard enough. YUGE ship! Lots to do but not as much shopping on board as other cruise lines. If you're going to Alaska, spring for the balcony.
