Review summary

We had a great time, as we have for all our Alaska cruises. We got to visit with our daughter before the cruise (she lives in Alaska).

Embarkation

5 out of 5
There was a little wait after arrival for the ship to clear. Once they cleared, we were escorted through the Haven line and right onboard the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The dining rooms and specialty restaurants were great!

Teppanyaki

5 out of 5

We always enjoy the show here.

Champagne Bar

5 out of 5

Go see El Marie Caguioa, she's a great and fun waitress. Always kept my drink stocked.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We did lots of trivia and people watching throughout the ship.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We enjoyed all the stage shows. The comedians were great!

Children's Programs

No kids on this trip

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was wonderful throughout the entire ship.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was easy to navigate, with with an electric scooter. The common areas were all clean and well-kept.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The Owner's Suite was very spacious. The steward and butler did a great job of keeping the cabin up.

Ship tip

This is our second ship in the Jewel class, and we like the smaller ships. Even without all the bells and whistles, it might be worth taking the chance and booking one. Or you can leave the room to us. :)

Ports of call

Seward (Anchorage), Alaska

5 out of 5
We got to Seward the day before the cruise and went to the sea life world.

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

5 out of 5
We love going to the glaciers! We got to see some calving, which is really loud.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

5 out of 5
We didn't do anything here. We were scheduled for the gondola ride, but it was rainy and cloudy.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER Did not visit port

Visibility required the captain to skip this.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
We went whale watching here. We didn't see much of the whales, except a couple blowing air through their spouts. But we did see some stellar sea lions on a haul-out.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
My wife did a tour here, and she enjoyed it.

KETCHIKAN (WARD COVE), ALASKA

5 out of 5
My wife did a tour here, while I went crab fishing! That was a blast!

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

5 out of 5
Beautiful scenery.

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia Did not visit port

Merely a point of debarkation and transfer to the airport.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We were escorted off the ship and straight through the luggage area. The porter saw that we had a scooter and arranged for a transfer voucher for us and got us a taxi to the airport, so we didn't have to wait for the NCL transfer.

I'm on the Jewel now and having a great time, although I think the music is way too loud in the lounges.

Glad you had a great time on your cruise. Agree about the smaller ships, one of my most enjoyable cruises with by far the best itinerary was on one of the smaller NCL ships (the Star).
