Review summary

The ports of call her exactly what we wanted to see on this Alaskan bucket list Cruise. However the Norwegian Jewel I feel is very much catered to an elderly audience. The activities are lacking and more to better one's health. The cruise ship very much pushes a lot of their services during these presentations. I very much felt like I was on a timeshare cruise ship. The entertainment staff is not engaging and not fun at all. aside from the meals I had at the specialty restaurants and the breakfast buffet everything else is very bland.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The specialty restaurants I paid for, were the only ones that had any flavor to them. Everything else was just mediocre.

Moderno Churrascaria

5 out of 5

Budy, the restaurant host was very amicable and friendly and a pleasure to speak with. The food variations were outstanding.

Teppanyaki

5 out of 5

The chef preparing your meal was very entertaining. Cook everything to perfection.

Cagney's Steakhouse

5 out of 5

Great ambiance, great service, great food.

Onboard Activities

too cold to swim in my opinion. The casino bingo and deal or No deal were about the only entertaining things on the boat and even then they were a little bland.

Shore Excursions Desk

5 out of 5

At one point I misplaced my previously printed shore excursion tickets and the excursion desk members helped me no problem.

Casino

5 out of 5

I won, need I say more.

The Collection Art Gallery

A little bit of everything for everyone

Galleria Shops

Service and Staff

the staff really makes an effort and goes out of the way to make you feel at home while on board this ship. Constantly checking up on you to make sure you have what you need to enjoy your trip.

Cabin / Stateroom

the beds were a little hard however our room stewardess was able to find an egg crate that she placed on our bed which made it more comfortable for the rest of our trip. Overall the room had plenty of storage and lighting.

Ship tip

Don't do it!

We did the Great lumberjack show and it was great.

Juneau, Alaska

We went on a whale watching and glacier, salmon bake tour. all of three of which were amazing fun and exactly what we were in Alaska for.

Skagway, Alaska

We did the White pass trail, train ride. I would only recommend doing it in One direction and getting the bus the opposite direction only because it's pretty much the same thing and very long. Not much to do in this small little town except shop and eat.

Cruise Glacier Bay

Amazing views.
