My wife's cabin card would make the machine beep every time we returned to the ship, on the 4th time my wife said matter-of-factly it was getting old having so much trouble returning to the ship. When we disembarked they scanned her card and a red box popped up on screen that said "Passenger Argumentative". If you ever met my wife you would know how rediculous that is. We had her card remade and after the first problem reboarding and it still was a problem. My card was problematic, they remade it, and everything was fine.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
It was quick and smooth.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
No Lobster. The "Freestyle Cruising" on Norwegian was nice in some ways, but having a specific table and consistant wait staff on other cruise lines resulted in better service particularly Carnival.
Chin Chin Asian Restaurant
3 out of 5
I did not eat there, but it is an Asian fusion restaurant whose name means "Penis" in Japanese. I dont know what they were thinking when they named it. My wife is Japanese and I lived in Japan for 7 years so I am not confused on the name/meaning.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
I cant say anything bad because It was an Alaskan cruise on a smaller ship so VERY FEW took advantage of the pools and hot tubs, no slides, rock walls, putt putt, etc.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Main theater shows were great, the other shipboard entertainment on a nightly basis was just "ok".
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Room stewatd was great, bar staff was great, dining staff was "acceptable".
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Bathrooms looked very clean but had a slight odor.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
It was a smaller ship, so the room was smaller than we normally have. It was kept clean. No towel animals daily. We did not receive the next days schedule on 1 evening.
Ship tip
The dining room menu is very basic so add a specialty dining package.
The Ship is far from everything. We went on the "Grizzly Falls ziplining expedition" and absolutely loved it. The equipme t was very new, the staff friendly and helpful at teaching "tricks" on the zipline. It was on a mountain and criss crossed over Grizzly Falls and it was absolutely beautiful up there. The excursion was worth it just for the scenery. Also, we ate at and toured the Red Onion Saloon, a former gold rush brothel. The tour guides dress for the bygone era and keep everyone laughing during the tour.
Just disembarked to a bus for transfer to an excursion boat bound for Valdez via Prince William Sound to start our week long land tour of Alaska. The tpur of Prince William Sound got us much closer to the glaciers than the cruise ship did and we saw so much wildlife including 3 different whales breaching the surface which is supposedly rare for the time of year we were there.
We were supposed to disembark as the "red" group, but the sheet left in everyone's cabin the night before listed the different colors and what time they would disembark, it did not list a "red" group. They did call us out though and everything worked out.
