Review summary

Plan on adding $1,000 per person to the cost of your cruise for shore excursions. When you reach Victoria, you have to pay for transportation from the dock into the city which cost $12 round trip. The line for the bus was very long.

Make sure you plan them in advance and read the reviews, it's nearly impossible to do it on board, the office is only open a few hours a day. If you decide at the last minute, the system for booking is low tech and no one is available to help you. The woman in charge of our excursion desk was very curt and rude.

We walked to Victoria....planned all excursions. And did not spend 500 for two people.... Great cruise...

We walked to downtown in 10 minutes from the ship, with many restaurants and shops. It is easier to complain.

Best bet is to take a taxi into town. Four passengers can ride for $10.00 CDN. There is a line to wait in but it goes quickly. No shuffling onto the busses which seemed to take much longer. Pick up return taxi across from Empress Hotel. Getting to Buchart Gardens is another matter. Depending on time you have, it may be worth renting a car (four agencies downtown) and driving the island.

I've had about 20 emails with offers suggesting planning in advance, and it was advised at booking. Didn't you? I'm not sure why you would rate the cruise at fault?
