Review summary
We sailed on the Jewel March 9th through the 16th. This was our first time sailing with NCL, our previous 7 cruises were with Disney. We were concerned leading up to our cruise if NCL would be able to live up to the expectations that our experiences with Disney had created. While everything on the cruise may not have been up to the Disney standard, we had an awesome time and would definitely sail with NCL again. The staff was great and very helpful, staterooms were as good as if not better than Disney, the food and service in the restaurants were good but could have been better, nightly entertainment was great and we had two of the best shore excursions we have ever had (zip lines in Roatan and air boats in Belize). The Freestyle dining was new to us but overall we liked having the flexibility of going to dinner at whatever time we liked rather than having a set time. We missed not having the same dining staff each night, like Disney and did not like having to pay an up charge for the specialty restaurants. Overall though, great value for the money and we would again.

Ship tip
Check out the viewing room in the forward area on deck 11, you can see the crew at work. The game room on deck 12 is a great place to play a board game or card game. Don't forget about Bingo, lots of fun.
