Review summary

Our family has cruised many other lines but this was our first time on Norwegian.  We were pretty disappointed in our stay.  The ship did not have the top deck ammeneties of most other cruise lines.  The sports deck was beyond pitiful.  The pool area was fine for adults but not good at all for children (unless under the age of 3).  The designated kids pool (not the baby pool) was completely over MY head in depth.  The stairs came in at the deep end.  There was only very small area where you could sit to monitor your child (since there is not a lifeguard) but it was nearly impossible to get a lounger near there.  The parents literally had to stand around the pool to watch the kids if they were not getting in (not very relaxing!!).  My kids had anticipated the pool to be the highlight of their trip and it was terrible.

The food was fair.  The menu was the same every single night with just one variation of the chef's special.  BORING!!  The beef quality was fair.

The spa services were nice, however the ship took advantage of my 85 year old grandmother.  At the end of the serivce, they always try to sell you products.  They sold my grandmother almost $300 worth of products.  When she signed the receipt, she asked if it included everything (meaning the spa treatment and the products) and they said yes.  However, my grandmother was billed $171 for the treatment and another $288 for the products.  Of course, you don't get the itemized bill until the last night.  Since the product was not opened, we tried to return it but they said that she could not return it.   I have a written complaint but Norwegian has not responded.

The ports of call were ok.  We really expected a lot out of Belize but you port into the inner city where it's very poor and dirty.  The only way to see the nice part of Belize is to take a tour to the other side of the island.  We went to a 'beach' tour where they had blocked up some water and it was brown, dirty water to swim in.  Not blue water at all.    Honduras was actually very nice.  The ziplining tour was very good and they take you to a very nice beach with pretty blue water!

For your vacation dollar, there are much better cruiselines available!!
