San Juan, Puerto Rico

Next cruise we will be sure to have more time in PR, as this was our favorite port! We still can't understand why we were only there a few hours. Cab driver drove us around the island, and he was the BEST. So friendly and knowledgeable. We were disappointed in Bacardi, as we thought we would see the distillery itself, instead there was a Disney-type film and some artifacts. Free drinks were worth the trip though. We loved visiting the San Cristobol Fort and Old San Juan.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Loved the shopping, but most of all loved Blackbeard's Castle. Only complaint is that we arrived in Charlotte Amalie very early and the stores were not opened. We were "shooed" out of a store that had opened its doors, but not open for business for another 5 minutes. It would have been better if we were told when the shops opened and we would have planned accordingly.

As soon as we disembarked, we were "rushed upon" by cab drivers who were rude and offensive. We had planned to take a cab, but their behavior changed our mind. We instead walked into the city which was dirty and smelly. After about 15 minutes, we headed back to the ship. It was a horrible experience. When we visited St. John's 30 years ago, it was bad...this time it was worst. During our last trip, we visited the beaches which were beautiful. I suggest you take a ship tour to see anything on this island.
