great vacations by erckan01

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Loved Cozumel and Harvest Caye , belize  , loved the boat and my family enjoyed the activities on board the ship.Happy All it needs is more music ( live band or dj ) during  the day / night at the pool area , not only certain times of the day so people can enjoy it better . it gets boring at times after 6pm

looking forward to our next cruisewith NCL by 1deegee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

All was great, but wish the hour's on their new island resort Harvest Caye were longer 7am to 12:30  to short 9am to 5:00pm would give you more time to enjoy island time. Even better if the ships card could be used instead if cash.                  come on NCL you own the island !!!! Wink

Problems encounted by ChuckRoth

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Cruise was excellent except for two problems.  At the Blue Lagoon  for lunch, we were seated and waited for 15 minutes.  I notified the hostess and see summoned a waiter who brought us water.  After another 15 minutes, people who came in after us were being served.  We never saw our waiter again.  We told the hostess we were leaving and went to the main dining room.

We are Platinum members and were to get priority disembarkation.  They called 3 colors at once and it took 45 minutes of standing in line to get to our luggage.  This was totally UNSATIFACTORY.

Nickle and Diming customers by jog1988go

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The NCL is nickle and diming their cruisers by charging exorbitant prices for their water package.  Since I need to have water by my bedside, I had to buy their water, since they don't allow you to bring it on board.  Other  cruise line don't let you bring water on board, but they don't gouge your pockets with their price.  They charge $3.99 for a 12 pack of 16oz bottles, where as NCL charges $27. for the same amout of water.  They offer OBC, then they don't want to honor it, so I had to fight to get it.  Service in the dining room was slow, and food was cold.  We dined the rest of the week at the buffet, and it was great.

My experience on the Jade by debrawntrhvn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Best cruise ever! have taking over 30 cruises over the years. The entertainment on the Jade was the best ever! Food was very good. Liked that you could have anytime dining. & that you could dress smart casual every night. Did not have to have all that formal wear just to eat dinner.

Be Leary by andrealee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My favorite part of this cruise was Harvest Caye. I personally would not go back on this ship.  Poor condition None of the officers, or anyone in charge knew anything I asked them, got several different answers.  Cost me an exta $600.00 to change my air flight.  They told me the ship would get into port at 8:00am.  Well they were in earlier and we got off the ship at 7:30 therefore I never needed to change my flight that's what I get for listening to people that don't know what they are doing.

Almost the same thing on the dinner menu at night boring.  Been on 30 plus cruises and not at all happy with the experience.

Familiy Vacation Review by dlemmon2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had an amazing trip.  Our cabin steward was great and he made sure that we had everything we needed and he went above and beyond the call of duty to take care of us.

The dining staff was outstanding, however the dining room meal variety could have been better.  Not sure if I am really a fan of the free style dining experience.

We enjoyed the ports as well as the sea days.

Overall, I would recommend this sailing to anyone wanting to have a nice and relaxing trip with friends, family or just their loved one.

They should have dry-docked it already by BMR723

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I love love love NCL and was trying to convince my family of how great NCL cruising can be. Unfortunately, this was NOT the trip to try to accomplish this.

The ship is OLD and in need of an update. It should not have been out and already in drydock. The ship left late, welders under the ship??????? The food was ok but not up to par with the other NCL cruises I have taken. The entertainment was better as the trip went on. 'Especially liked Stephani Parker, the Grand Finale show (magic & acrobats), Fire & Ice and the comedian.  The band at poolside needs to either select different music to get the people going or needs to be changed.  There were limited activities and the ports were ok but not exceptional. Even the disembarking in Tampa was delayed close to 2 hours. Just very unorganized and not up to NCL's usual standards.

I hate to say it but if this were my first NCL cruise I would not take another one.

NCL 2016 Cruise by Cruiser23903021

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise itself was very nice and I enjoyed it greatly.  However the  Customer Service desk was dispictable.  We were looked down on because we were paying our account with cash. After they supposed set up the account, we went to purchase some items and were told we didn't have an account. We had to go back to Customer Service and deal with them. This happened again and we were given the run around that the computer hadn't updated. It happened to my roommate the third time & again she had to go back to customer service. When I was overcharged for an item they told me I had to go back to where I got the item to make the change.  I don't understand why customer service couldn't make the correction when I had the items in front of the representative.

Small cabins, impersonal dining service by aotwell23

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our favorite part of the cruise was the entertainment....The dancers were excellent, along with a good comedian, good magician, and wonderful gymnasts. Unfortunately, our inside cabin was so tight compared to other cruise lines...Also, the one excursion we took through the ship involved a long boat and extra long bus ride with a disappointing tube ride down a river with no wildlife.

14 night Transatlantic Westbound (Barcelona to Tampa by owls32817

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Transatlantic

The NCL Jade, is a beautiful ship. we decided to take this because of it Itinerary.

The Ports of call around Spain were great. We left Europe, headed out for 5-days at sea to Bermuda. The weather changed and we could not go into Bermuda so 5-days at sea turned into 7days and rough sailing across. The Captain and the crew, did their best to keep the passengers well informed and entertained.

We then continued on course headed to Miami. Everyone was disappointed about not going into Bermuda, as this was one of the reason for picking this cruise. Met a lot of lovely folks that was frequent cruisers like ourselves. Over all we rate the cruise a 4. This is our 16 cruise, like I said we love cruising and love the NCL line of ships as well.

2 short weeks at sea by ethigpen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Transatlantic

Spending so many days at sea and the gentle rocking and swaying of the ship are always delightful. The friendliness and helpfulness of the crew was always welcome. Great variety and freshness of the food, especially at the Garden Cafe was amazingly impressive. I appreciated having educational lectures available several days of the cruise. Evening entertainment was a bit weak for my taste.

Great Transatlantic Cruise by Peaceful1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Transatlantic

We were happy with the size of the Jade...not too big and very comfortable.  Our balcony cabin seemed spacious compared to the one we had just left on NCL Epic.  Our room steward, Amiel, was attentive and met all of our needs with a smile.  All of the staff was friendly throughout the ship.  The food was good and the special restaurants were even better, especially Le Bistro and Cagneys.  We purchased the Ultimate Dining Package giving us six meals each at the specialty restaurants.  Other than a few beers and Gatorades our final bill reflected the additional daily service charges.  NCL charges for all the extras.   We were not able to stop in Bermuda due to high winds and rough seas, but the captain explained that safety was the main issue.  We were disappointed that another stop was not offered, but enjoyed the extra sea day. The next time, we may choose another line, but the Jade was a good choice for our ocean crossing.

too many sea days in a row by gypsytraveller

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Transatlantic

Lunch, supper and snacks were great in the garden café.

Breakfast was too late, as heading West meant time changes often. There was no protein available before 6 most days , while people with blood sugar issues needed it an hour earlier every time change. (peanut butter, cheese, boiled egg)

Cruise director staff kept us well exercised and entertained.

Room steward for 4551 was the best ever ! She was cheerful and helpful no matter what...... (missing Bermuda which meant too many sea days in a row; rotten USA election results, extremely long  immigration in Miami for Canadians in 4th floor returning to ship )

Super, relaxing cruise by BoulderCruisers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Transatlantic

Being on our first TransAtlantic cruise was exciting. We spent the first few days in ports in Spain and then Portugal, followed by a long series of sea days. The sea days actually went longer than planned due to the storm in Bermuda. The captain wisely decided to go around the storm and stay in calmer waters.

for the most part we loved the cruise. What we didn't like we're some of the changes to NCL's programs and benefits. If you are a latitude person you know that gold and platinum have, in the past, had preference embarkation. This perk has been removed by NCL. Also, the dining package has now been changed to 3 dinners for up to 9 nights at sea and 4 dinners for anything beyond that.  Also you are only allowed certain items in the ala carte restaurants.

We would definately recommend this cruise to everyone. It's just nice to know the NCL "cuts" in advance. Wonder what will go away next.

Not again by zonianieves

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Transatlantic

Cruise was OK overall, we had to miss Bermuda weather issues, which was a disappointment, no alternative was offered, according to Captain the Norwegian Island in the Bahamas was not operational due to Hurricane damage, hard to understand it would have taken that long to repair, 7 days at sea is hard to take, we had to stop in Nassau but not able to get off, medical emergency.

Some of the wait staff not very attentive, the majority was very nice, and I did recognize those that deserved it. Food provided was very good.

Cabin shower bathtub was very deep and hard to get out of, something to remember for next cruise to make sure we get a shower, as I was afraid to get out of tub. Our room attendant Roman was very nice and provided great service.

Ports of call were amazing, sorry we had to miss Bermuda.

As a goodwill gesture captain gave cruise passenger's Rum Punch-Not to much rum in it, for those of us that had paid for the drink package no offer was made, disappointing...

As this was out 50th anniversary I expected a bit more.Sad

As the title reflects..."not again"
