We booked this through ; which complicated things because we would try to add something or had a question and told to talk to the travel agent; the travel agent couldn't help so we went in circles.
We learned the priority pass only gives you priority when there is a tender; however, if you have an excursion, you already have priority tender. And there was zero value for either the embark or disembark. So for us, it was a waste of money.
Be careful where you room is located.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
Completely unorganized and a mess. We purchased priority boarding and got zero benefit from it. Someone was supposed to give us a "card" but no one seemed to know how we were to get it. Not even sure it would have mattered but with all the frustration and disorganization it really set us up very negatively for how the cruise was going to go
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Food was just ok. We expected more Greek options. Ordered steak from the main dining rooms and the quality of the steak is less than satisfactory. We did the Le Bistro - and the food was ok - service was ok. Japanese restaurant was very fun - food was still just ok - but the chef was amazing. the hostesss was not very friendly. The tables are set for 8 people; ours had 9 at it and the hostess kept trying to get me to scoot my chair down - I kept telling her that my chair was already very tight with the chair next to me; as well as the next one to the other -- but she was frustrated because a table of 8 would not fit a table of 9. And we only had 3 in our party - so we didn't make the 9 - but they should really not seat 9 at a table for 8.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
I jumped in the pool and the water was very cold - to me, not refreshing - but cold!
Entertainment
2 out of 5
We only attended one show - a singer - and we ended up walking out - our 18 year old also felt the singer was shouting not singing.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
There are a number of people who are 5 Star! Vanjay in the main dining; Edgurado - wine steward; Fran - Bartender; Raymond - cabin steward; and the medical team with whom we got to visit (unfortunately)
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
This needs to be separated. Cleanliness is 5. Design - probably 3 - some very confusing areas - like trying to find the person to help with internet. You will find him in the Art Gallery???
Cabin / Stateroom
1 out of 5
Size of cabin was nice and very comfortable. HOWEVER, no one tells you that your room is directly below the pool deck and you will be woken up every morning to the sound of the crew slamming the deck chairs onto the deck and then sliding them into position. So frustrating!
Ship tip
Get the ultimate drink package - when you are docked you will not be able to buy any drink - including soda, Java Coffee Bar, drinks, etc
Loved the Ephesus tour; however, at the end of the excursion you are taken to a Turkish Carpet market where they show you all their carpets and are pressured to buy something. Loved the carpets but they should have supplemented the cost of the excursion since it was 30 minute commercial.
I was so looking forward to seeing the cave John was in when he had the "revelation"; however, there is very little time in the cave and late at night; the tour guide was in a hurry to get us down - that we actually completed the tour 30 minutes early.
We did the Rhodes / Lindos tour; what they don't tell you is that the time it takes to walk up the "300" steps o the top is determined by how many cruise ships are there. A normal walk up - maybe 15-20 minutes; for ours, it was over an hour! one step at a time; wait then another step - never again.
If you don't like heights and winding switchback roads; don't do this. The monastery was fine. The wine tasting set-up was terrible. We had 45 people in our "small group" - they only allowed 16 people to sit around a table - even though they had many tables - they got upset if people sat at the other tables. Then the hostess kept saying she needed to hurry and get through this because she had another group coming. And wine tasting - only 2 white wines and one rose. Pretty expensive tour what you get.
Travel agents are free and their knowledge could have saved you a lot of trouble. Find one you like and stick with them.
Hopefully your next cruise will be much better.
