Review summary

Overall, a very good cruise. Other than the one experience with the bar manager not being able to get the game on the bar TV before the second half of the game as promised, it was very nice.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation was fast and easy for New York City.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was excellent but the service in the dining rooms was sometimes slow or spotty. Overall a good experience.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The pool and outdoors stuff was good. We did have one bad experience trying to get a game on the TV in a bar when we were told it would be on but it was not. Bar staff was helpful but not successful. Once we got management involved we got aggravated, this is the second time on Norwegian where managers don't seem to care or respond to issues. Turned out once we found the one bartender that knew how to work the TVs the game was on in seconds. Didn't get to this person until the second half of the game.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The ships singers, dancers, musicians, and performers were all of a good quality.

Children's Programs

Didn't have kids with us.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
All of the people we dealt with at the user level were excellent. The one experience with management, the bar manager, was not very good and in our experience not unusual for Norwegian cruise lines. See comments above for details.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Everything was clean and functional.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The room was smaller than others we have had but overall suited our needs well.

Ship tip

Find your favorite bartenders, waiters, and other staff early in the cruise and get to know their schedules and stick with them. They will make sure your experience is very positive.

Ports of call

New York, New York

4 out of 5
No excursion. Just a large port building with a lot of New York workers who were for the most part very helpful.

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic Did not visit port

The lifeboats were being used as tenders and the seas were rough. Saw a lot of people getting beaten around and decided not to risk it.

Kralendijk, Bonaire

4 out of 5
We did a simple beach excursion. Everything was okay getting to the resort. The pool was excellent as was the beach. The salt water access was off of a pier that was not very stable.

Willemstad, Curacao

4 out of 5
A very nice port where we went to an aquarium and beach resort which was pleasant but not exceptional.

Oranjestad, Aruba

5 out of 5
Did an off road Land Rover excursion and had a ball. Pell was our driver and gave us quite a ride ending with the whole group being bonded and covered in mud. One of the best tours we have taken ever.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

5 out of 5
We took an excursion climbing Dunn's Falls and swimming with the Dolphins. Both portions of this tour where excellent although we have reached an age where we would not likely do the climb again. Another top 10 tour in our estimation.

Miami, Florida

4 out of 5
Everything was efficient getting off of the ship and taking a bus to the airport.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We had no problems getting off the ship, finding the bus to the terminal, and getting to the gate.
