Review summary

The agent mentioned that NCL would fall under our previous cruises with Celebrity, so we new what to expect. The biggest difference with the Jade was the inconsistency in making up the cabin. They seemed short on personnel. On the plus side, it docked at the ports that we wanted and the excursions were really enjoyable. Night time rides serenaded in gondolas in Venice, a great tour of Pompeii and Izmir, Turkey stand out. Sadly, the ships hurry to turn around for the next cruise caused them to take us to the airport 4 hours early.

All of Turkey is a wonderful experience. The Grand Bazaar, the Blue Mosque, and the Cistern are worth seeing.

The Vatican & Sistine Chapel are a must. We just had enough time to run to the Colosseum, but the tour guide didn't mention that they only accepted Euros (not credit cards) to get in.

Ephesus is a must see. Walking the same streets as Cleopatra. The stop at the rug factory is great. I bought a rug there 12 years ago and bought another one this time, too. I imagine the tour guide get a piece of the action b/c he helped me buy it.

I've been there a couple of times and I don't care for Athens. The Acropolis is okay but not special. Best part of Athens is leaving it for the islands.

We were booked for Pompeii in the morning and Herculaneum in the afternoon. The afternoon excursion was cancelled, but Pompeii is worth seeing. The stop at the cameo factory is great. Prices are reasonable.

Pros: The ports visited were the best part of the cruise.

Cons: Never certain the room will be made up while gone
