Norwegian Getaway Cruise Reviews - Reviews

 The cruise was fun and the ship was well done many of the staff working the boat were less than enjoyable.  The waitstaff in the main dining areas so little emotion or interest in getting to know our party.  While some people may like being left alone to eat in silence our family enjoys getting to know the waitstaff and during our seven days only three waitstaff showed any interest if my family.  The bartenders when countered were a lot of fun at mix lounge and at the Mohito bar. The ice bar was a blast and the photographers were professional and helpful.  Our state room attendant was awesome margarita acknowledged us and work with us it was fun the entire time. our biggest disappointment was through Cruises only and not from Norwegian we booked rooms for 17 people five rooms total and then Cruises only erred and failed to pay for one of the rooms even  though they had the information to do so. They said they were going to continue working to find a room on our floor but instead you get free Internet which hardly works and two of the people in the room Lost the free beverage package. I'm not sure we will use Chris's only again this is our third book him through them. We would sail Norwegian again.

Had an overall great time.  The seas were rocky a view days and the stateroom stewards were not very efficient or attentive.  The Vibe area is worth it!  Had a blast at the adult pool as well.  The water slides are great!

My favorite part of the cruise was definitely the ports and shore excursions; Monkey Park, Underwater Scooter, Water Park, Private Beach, Ocean Kayaking, Xplor Park with cave rafting, driving through the jungle, Ziplining...all great.

Went on the same ship last year and the entertainment has gone downhill, but the boat still has plenty of things to do and the food is great and the service was awesome!

This was our seven cruise, our second with Norwegian. The music, entertainment, food, facilities, staff were outstanding, second to none. If you want to experience something different and have a lot of fun, specially dancing, this is your cruise.

all crew members are helpful, warm and friendly, especially servers in the special dining room. Love our onboard experience as far as crew and staff service is concerned. 

We did not use the pool area at all because the adult pool is tiny for the large volume of customers. Decent nightly entertainment to occupy for the 7 day trip.

we are not impressed or interested with the land stops in Belize and Costa Maya.

I will recommend this ship but may be on a different route.

The favorite part of the cruise was the laid back atmosphere, with a no pressure or rushed environment as experienced in other cruise lines. The specialty dining is a hit. The entertainment had a little bit for everyone. Burn the Floor show was fantastic. The stateroom was spacious and common areas maintained spotless.

A couple of areas to improve are:

- The photo shop. The service delivery was sub-par. Seemed rushed. Employees were NOT listening.

- Dining Package - I used one of my dining package offers for the Sushi Bar. I was not told by the hostess that it was at a discounted rate. When I received the bill, surprise, I was assessed a fee for the food. When questioned, I received different responses. I went to the Dining Desk and they explained the program with more details.

- Shore Excursions - In one of the sites visited, the experience was not the best. The excursion seemed to have been overbooked and there were 3 additional cruise lines at the site that day (that is what the tour guide claimed). It took us an hour from the excursion meeting point to the bus. When we arrived to the site, the bus had to wait over 30 minutes to get to a parking. Once at the site, the excursion was fantastic, but felt rushed due to the time lost upfront. Also, I went to the Shore Excursion desk and there was an employee that gave an impression of superiority over fellow workers and clients. He was loud, not humble.

- Management of Staff at Tropical Dining Area - I saw how a manager mistreated employees at the Tropical dining area. I felt very embarrassed, and I had to make a comment for this type of treatment.

I am a fan of another Fun cruise line, but looking at the pros and cons, I will start using NCL more and more.

I love the whole ship. It was my first time on the Getaway. But not my first cruise 

i especially enjoyed the restaurant and the shows 

I didn't like that you have to book the shows. Didn't get to see a few things I wanted to se. 

My biggest complaint is the pool. They only have one and it's very small. And another gripe was the $7.85 room service charge. 

I have never seen this in 30 years of cruising. 

Overall. I would rate my experience as a 10 and plan to travel with my children in the near future. 

Staff werre great. Ship was spotless

NCL Getaway is a fantastik cruise. Its one of the biggest ship from NCL. 

Very spacious, plenty to do for kids and adults. The shows and entertainment are  great. This was our second time at the Getaway. 

This was our 3rd time on this ship and as always the staff were wonderful from the room steward, waiters & bartenders.  And we loved all the specialty restaurants.  My only complaint would be that the casino slots weren't really letting anyone win this year.   

Norwegian has the smallest staterooms and balconies.

The specialty restaurants were excellent. The staff was all great.

Embarkation was poor stand in three different lines then wait an extended period of time in a lounge before boarding.

The staff were wonderful to us, from our room steward to the hotel director and all in-between. Many good wishes and remembrances for our anniversary. The ship is extremely well-kept, crew are available at any time and want to hear of great things about the ship and also of any problems, so they can be fixed. Several were so considerate of our friend who is in a wheel chair and helped him out when needed.  The ICE BAR was a fun experience, and the drinks in ice glasses were delicious.

Ready for next NCL cruise on the Sky in Octobe! Loved the Getaway Amazing ship and employees! We have only gone on Norwegian love everything about this cruise line. We will recommend to every, the free style cruising on NCL is the Very Best! 

Food at most restaurants was very good. All ship personnel extremely helpful and polite. Only 2 complaints.  Midship suite extremely nice but could hear really loud music until 11-12.  Also  I bought best tickets Illusion show.  They were the worst seats at the outer part of the theater. You could see the close up tricks (seats not elevated) which made the showw soso at best.  Overall a good cruise for the money.

The cruise was amazing! !!  There wss plenty of food and the restaurants were amazing.   Loved the Hibachi restaurant,  it was so fun and tge chef was hilarious,  we had a great group at our table.   This is my third cruise and Norwegian is the best!  Go to the mojito bar, they are the best.

The boat was lovely-since it's fairly new everything still looked fresh.

Pool area was entirely too small when you have two sea days. Not enough chairs for number of guests. Rooms were small but ok. Enjoyed the Irish Pub made it a nice change. Had sushi several times. Cagneys and Lacucina huge disappointment. First time at Cagneys food was ok service terrible second time

food was average at best service was great. Italian was just horrible-Olive Garden is an improvement. Islands were ok if you've done Carribean Islands they are all the same.  Did the cave tubing zip lining in Belize. Dock side tour operators were mass confusion. Felt like cattle. Way too crowded.

Loved this ship and the entertainment on board!  Wide variety of places to eat and overall the food was good.  However, we were very disappointed in the steakhouse restaurant - they were very busy (that's good) but the service was lacking and the quality of the steak was poor.  The filet lacked taste and the ribeye was tough.  This could have been one of our favorite cruises if not for this experience.

Loved the ports & shores excursions,  got to see some interesting places.  The ship was nice but crowded, hard to find a chair on the pool deck.  Never got in the pool because it was always crowded.  It was a party ship with lots of people drinking.  The pool activities were not family friendly, I.e. "Mr. Sexy Legs contest".  The food was good but not enough variety at the "included" sit down resturants.  We mostly ate at the buffet, garden market cafe, which was good and they cooked made to order omelets & pasta.  The seafood buffet was especially good.  The casino was in midship by the atrium.  Had to walk through the casino which was always smoky to get to most resturants.  Went to 3 shows that were good especially the dancers.  Would've liked to have more "included" entertainment options.

this cruise was underwhelming. Food was mediocre in buffet and main dining room. Service in main dining room was also poor. Mixed drinks were weak ( glad I got the drink package free). Onboard shopping was nothing unless you wanted to buy overpriced watches or jewelry. Pool was small and seating around the pool was impossible to snag on any day at sea. 

This was our first cruise so I have nothing really to compete it to. But the room and the ship were very well appointed.  It was our anniversary so we splurged on a balcony room. So worth it. Had my coffee on the small private area every morning. The shows were very good. Burn the Floor was excellent. The buffet food was bland so we figured out how to avoid it unless we were in a hurry. The ports were interesting. We did an ATV tour in Costa Maya that was downright dangerous. One ATV actually caught fire and the guides were at a loss to figure out how to put it out. There was no instruction for beginners except pointing out the brakes and the throttle. It was down a single trail and we spent the entire time just eating dirt. There was no water or first aid for the rider that was thrown off. I was so happy when it was over. The crew were all very happy to serve you. The drinks were very weak and I was extremely happy I got the unlimited beverage package as a promo when I booked. I would have hated to pay $7 to $10 for those drinks. We figured out at the end to order the drink and then order a shot to add to it. 

Overall, we had a good time. However, the ship's staff seemed to be unhappy with their jobs. Many of them not wanting to do their jobs properly, which put in a damper in our vacation. We were even charged for things we did not get which to time and energy out of our vacation experience and left us with a bad feeling about Norwegian Cruise Line.
