Review summary

The ship's staff tried hard but NCL obviously only cares about making money. The infirmary charged ridiculous prices (thousands of dollars for minimal services) and charged your credit card whether you agreed to it or not. The ship lost my suitcase and gave me a claim form which said their liability is a maximum $100. The ship stopped for a few hours in Miami to refuel and take on provisions and every passenger had to get off and go through Customs, which was a minimum three hours in line to get off and back on, leaving no time to do anything in Miami but stand in line. Never again on NCL.

Ship tip

Do not go to the infirmary unless absolutely necessary. The prices are exorbitant.

I was on this cruise and I wouldn't give 1 star to anything, especially to the European ports, embarkation and even disembarkation. No experience with the med. office but I heard the same story from different ships and lines. Miami was a huge mess. We left at 9 am as we had an excursion and breathed through passport control on 15 min. Getting back on the ship was a totally different story. 4000 people had to do that at the same time. Food in the Garden Cafe was normal temperature, MDR was good, the service was also good and entertainment, at least some, was excellent. It was a good cruise, not spectacular as our previous experience.

Thank you for the review. I’m looking at adding outside travel medicine insurance after reading. I found that less than $200 for up to 50,000 coverage might be worth it.

Sorry, you had a bad time. Not sure what the Miami fuel/customs stop was about. Also not sure I'm buying the entire story here, there's more to it, I'm sure. You are however 100% correct about the med center! A friend of ours on the Getaway in 2018 was charged $3,400.00 to his card because his son got dehydrated. They gave him 1 bag IV fluids & 2 qt. bottles of Gatorade. (So that part of the story is NOT fake)

The cruise line has nothing to do with the medical center. All payment and arrangements are between you and the PRIVATE company that provides medical services. That is why you get cruise insurance. I’m sure you’re exaggerating about customs in Miami, but I’m also sure that this was a tiny portion of your overall trip. I think you’re letting the illness in your group cloud your judgement of the rest of your experience.
