Review summary

We had such an amazing experience, in 2014, on the Getaway, that we will be returning this year. The customer service was exceptional, the food was savory and fantastic, the atmosphere fun yet relaxing, and plenty of activities to choose from.

Our friends recently returned from their Getaway cruise, and loved it also!

We highly recommend this cruise, especially to families with school aged children. After being on many other cruiselines, we have found that the freestyle dining, that only NCL offers, is simply impossible to beat. We like to choose what restaurant we want to go to, at whatever time suites us, and to sit together as a family. We don't think we could ever sail with another cruisline again, and be forced to eat at certain time everyday, at the same restaurants, and to be seated with strangers.

The abundance of activities on this ship were also impressive. There is something for every age group,and level of adventure.

The only thing we feel needed improvement, were the number of shows, and the type of shows. We felt the "dance" one was a bit risque for children to watch. We also felt there needed to be more of a variety.

Overall, though, we loved it! So much so, that we will be returning this year!

We have a teenager and an Elementary school child. Neither was ever bored. We recommend obtaining a list of activities. There is so much going on, you may miss something !

Ship Quality

Beautiful! We were impressed by the fact that there were hand sanitizers everywhere. Crew members also insisted in putting some directly in our hands. No wonder one never hears of disease breakouts on NCL! Loved it!

Cabin / Stateroom

Amazing cruise line and ship! So much so, that we are returning this year! We booked the guaranteed ocean view cabin, and ended up with one of the handicapped one. It was very large and comfortable. We enjoyed the room service, late at night, while watching a movie in our cabin. Great family time on nights when we were too tired to go to one of the clubs.

Obtain information on all dining choices; there are more complimentary options than you think. Also get a list of all activities provided on this ship. We participated in so many, our kids were never bored. We have one teenager and one Elementary school child; they both had a blast.
