Review summary

The destinations were great.I couldn't wait to get off the ship the food was disgusting. There is no such thing as fine dining on this ship . The food that they use at the Garden buffet place was the same food they were serving at the world-class dining room . Gross! The ship was also boring nothing to do that was free and if it was free it was overly booked and also disappointing. I will never travel through this ship again

It was boring . Nothing to do and you have to pay for everything. Anything that sounds good was booked and cruise direct was boring . Only tried to sell products and not entertain .

The floor was dirty had to asked them on the first day to vacuum. Smelled like mildew.

Ship tip

Do not sails with them . Go with carnival it was better I thought it would be an upgrade for me this trip but it was more of a downgrade

Just off Getaway last week. Food was amazing. There was a great variety of food in the Tropicana main dining room which was not available in the buffet.

I do not agree with this review at all. We sailed on this ship, in 2014, and are returning to it this year. We have friends who just returned from theirs, and raved about the amazing experience. There is much to do on this ship: shows, water slides, games and activities, miniature golf, arcade, clubs, obstacle course, etc. The food was fantastic! We have traveled on Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Princess cruiselines. NCL has been the best for our family! It is impossible to beat the free style dining. We will never go back to set dining times, at the same restaurants, and being seated with strangers. We enjoy choosing where and when we want to dine!

No i didnt motherpearl my 12day cruise was on rcl liberty of the sea. I was supose been on ncl getaway last October but the person cancel on me i couldnt find anyone to go with me so went on a different cruise with other friends i finally am book on the getaway with my son oct 2017 for his birthday present cant wait

Did 2 weeks on the Getaway last December. Best cruise, food, crew, entertainment ever. Could not have had a better holiday.

I love cruising i couldn't imagine not cruising best vacation ever you can see so much for the price you cant beat it and all the great food and service but a perfect cruise is a 12day cruise i think.

I'm not really sure how the original poster could say there was nothing free to do on this ship. I took my parents who are in their mid to late 60's and they had a blast i mean how can you not have fun when you get a 66 yo man on a ropes course?

6mobleys I have been on the Getaway twice and am going again in November as well...I have cruised with Royal and Carnival and I can say this is the best ship I have ever been on!

Most of the bigger ship pools are smaller i think ncl caters more to you and more friendly to you but every ship is different matter what cruise line dont give me wrong i love rcl and ncl but Both cruise line are great their things i like better on one and things better then the other.

You still get served for dinner. It's nice because you don't have to eat at the same time every night and you can arrange dinner based on what you want to see or do in the evening.

Half I was thinking the same thing... The only thing that bothers me a lil is that I'm spoiled to being served every night for dinner and we LOVE the captain ball... But I'll get over it real quick once I get my first drink of the day lol

6mobleys you didn't make a mistake, we usually cruise RCL also but got cancelled on Empress so went Getaway. Some things were different we didn't like, some things were much better, other things the same.

If your port miami u on a ncl you havent left port their a tax for your drinks very little amount but after you leave miami no more extra cost. I always tip the bartender extra i gave them cash

I been on different ncl i love Norwegian my friends told me food was good on this cruise their always something else you can eat if you dont like what you eating ncl always try to please they treat you so well. You figure they feed over 4000 people 3times a day are more you cant please everyone

Love the Getaway! Cruising it again in September. Soo much to do for the whole family. Putt putt, ropes course, rock climbing, water slides, organized games like dodge ball, trivia, movies, lounging. Our whole family had a blast!

I've been on the Getaway 3 times and had a ball! The food was as good as or better than all the leading cruise lines. Ropes course, shows, etc.
