Wonderful ship and wonderful employees. First time on a cruise and it was amazing. The crew treated you like family. There was always something to do no matter what time do say. The food was wonderful!! Will definitely go again.

This was our 30th cruise on NCL and we will continue cruising NCLwe feel like it is one of the finest cruise lines for us The one reason we continue to come back to iNCL is because of the service and the staff they are always so friendly so happy and so very very professional

This cruise was one we had looked forward to with great anticipation, and our expectations were largely satisfied. The Gem, which we had sailed aboard before, is beautiful and three of the four ports we visited were well worth the wait. I would recommend this itinerary, especially at this time of year when the fall foliage is on display.

I loved the cruise, enjoyed the experience and the ports. The cruises with US and Canada ports of call are sooooo much better than the Caribbean cruises. You don't get hawked at all.

First ever cruise,had a really good time cruising with family and friends. We surprised friends from the UK, who were celebrating a 50 th birthday, great birthday present.

Great with family to enjoy family time without cooking and cleaning. Did not have to make reservation to see shows. Highly recommend for big parties.

Let me start this review by saying I was supposed to go on Empress of the Seas on 9/13-18 to Key West, Cuba and Cozumel. Trip was cancelled due to Irma. I will be getting 100% refund and 25% off a new cruise. I really needed to get away and live in NYC. My options were; Norwegian Breakaway to Bermuda, or carnival sunshine or Norwegian Gem to Canada. In an effort to avoid JOSE I opted for Canada and enjoyed ncl in the past, so was able to book last minute. I just returned home today from a week on Norwegian Gem. We sailed from NY to Halifax, St Johns New Brunswick, Portland, Maine and Boston with a day at sea before and after the above ports of call. Ship is great. Just the right size and laid out very well. I love the Freestyle with several restaurants; 4 complimentary that includes the buffet option and several ala carte and flat fee. I actually ate in the Main Grand Pacific twice, the magenta once which has the same food as Grand pacific. Decor and music was nicer in the Grand pacific. Once in the la cuccina Italian ala carte and 3 times in the buffet. Once as I was a bit sea sick during the day and not up to a Full dinner. I had sailed on the Dawn, Spirit and Jewel in the past and liked the layout and offerings of those ships which are similar to the Gem. Food itself was good all around. Breakfast was great in the Buffet area. They had great eggs Benedict and thick brioche French toast. All ports were nice, giving ample time to go on your own and/or with numerous tours offered. So much for trying to avoid JOSE. He followed us up the coast. Weather did not cooperate. Every night the ship rocked an rolled. There was no rain but chilly and overcast everyday. The night we left Boston, Thursday thru Friday evening was rough all day with large swells with 11.5 wave heights causing the closet doors and draws to open n close and unused hangers to shuffle. Keep in mind if choosing an inside room, there is no space if your larger than a child to sit on the toilet. You have to sit almost sideways to do your business. Other than that there was ample space in the room and storage. Ship itself is clean and well maintained. I highly recommend the Gem and it's sister ships.

Would definitely go again. Great ship. Good size. Not too big or small! Plenty to do or nothing if you want to relax. Well kept ship with great cruise director

A good cruise to interesting places we had not seen. Great dining options with allowances for casual dining attire. Some improvements can be made in the buffet, drink package, and over-crowded bars as described above.

I enjoyed this whole cruise from start to finish, weather might not have been just as good for other people but it was warm for us from N. Ireland anyway walking around in shorts and t-shirt while Americans made u feel cold with jackets zipped up to the throat nearly and trousers on.

Overall, it is a good vacation for my family. Staffs are kind and nice. GEM is kind of an old vessel, but it is still in a good shape. However, I wish there was at least one dinner night served with lobster tails like it used to be. And a lot of people including myself, don't like the super expensive Wifi charges.

I love NCL. Two years ago the ship was reburbudhed so we were looking forward to going on it again since last time we loved it! Was not impressed with what was reburbushed. Guess I set my standard to high fir NCL but still had a great time

It was ok, not sure that I would ever go on another one. Just not for us. It was too crowded and on a hot day at sea you want to be able to hop in the pool, not even our 12 year old son and his friends would go in it.

For a first-time experience, and the amount of money I spent, I will not wish the Gem on anyone that wants to have a great vacation. It was overwhelming seeing the people bunched up by the pool area so early in the morning. GEM, should keep the seats by the pool to a limit, not have them all around the entire space for so many hours. Let the people dip and walk around but to relax on a beach chair the entire day is a downer. Encouraging positive, and not lazy behavior. Too many rude, disorganized people on the lines and no one to direct them in an orderly manner. It wasn't what I expected. I really expected a relaxed vacation. I came back home drained.

What a BLAST of a time! We had so much fun. Loved the pool, the restaurants were great. Orchids had some amazing food, I wish we would had discovered this from the beginning. Wow!

Even I don't have a previous experience in the cruise I can say this one is amazing my family and I had a wonderful experience in all aspect. The ship, the services and the places we visited exced our expectations thanks a lot.

All in all my favorite part of this ship was the entertainment loved the spinnaker lounge great shows there loved the night clubb bliss it's huge wit nice sofas the complimentary restaraunts were good also pool area very crowed pool kinda small to many kids in the hot tube slide looks outdated the buffet desserts were good but the buffet food horrible same thing everyday had a problem wit backed up to tolits on my my whole floor very inconveint customer service needs help badly my card keep getting cut off for no apparent reason when I had the ubp seem like the age range on this cruise was 50 and up couldn't really find to many people in my age group to mingle wit all in all descent cruise

This is the best way to go on vacation It was my very first ship cruise and I have no regrets at all. If you have traveled by airplane on vacation elsewhere, I hope you will agree with me. I highly recommend ship cruise.
