Review summary

I loved the cruise, enjoyed the experience and the ports. The cruises with US and Canada ports of call are sooooo much better than the Caribbean cruises. You don't get hawked at all.

Embarkation

For the first time in all our cruises, we got to the terminal early, walked right through everything, found a seat, and we're boarded very efficiently.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Over all, the food was very food. We ate the seafood pieai a at pool side. With all of the hype of a pool side BBQ, it amounted to a poolside rewarming station, but the food was good. The buffet was better than any buffet in my town, although it seems to be shrinking in choices. Speciality dinning was high end in quality

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Activities were scheduled all day long, it just depends on how much you want to get involved in. Rock climbing, basketball, socker, bingo, towel folding, french cooking, the list goes on and on.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
My one complaint,. The lounge by Tapenyaki restaurant, when you're in the restaurant trying to hear what the chef is saying and the music is so loud you can't hear, that's WAY too loud...... There were some preformers that were very good, sang in tune, well balanced, some were so,so.

Children's Programs

No children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Ok, first of all, we treat people like people not servants!!!!! Having said that, we found all of the staff we came in contact with to be very nice and friendly. Our cabin steward was great, he always greeted us with a warm smile and wanted to know what we did that day and if he could do anything for us. We found several bar tenders that were fun to be around and could repeat a good hand crafted drink. Waiters, sales staff, officers, everyone seemed to be warm and inviting. The crew seemed to be an older crew, that liked the ship. I would sail with this crew again with out second thought!!!!!!!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I've read reviews that were negative. I come out of a maintenance background. This ship is 99%!!! It is very well maintained, it is spotless. I didn't see one thing out of place. She has a good layout that is easy to follow and learn.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin, was a cabin, was a cabin. Two people comfortable. Always clean, always !!!! Really enjoyed the balcony.

Ship tip

Take time to know the crew you will find some real Gems

Ports of call

New York, New York

4 out of 5
We did two days in NY before the cruise, being from a one stop light town, NY is not for me, sorry. Plenty to do, plenty to see, I miss grass, horns not blowing, and having elbow room

Halifax, Nova Scotia

5 out of 5
Great town,, loved the water front trail, the Citadel is worth a long visit

Saint John, New Brunswick

4 out of 5
Walked the town, the city market is special, has a couple of food stalls that turn out good food, several souvenir type stalls, and good people running them

Bar Harbor, Maine

5 out of 5
Bar Harbor has a small town feel that is geared to the tourist trade. Shuttled in, the shuttle is hard on the elderly and handicapped, other than that we got in and out ok. We're in town before most stores opened. At dinner time we were directed to the West Street Cafe. It is worth your time.

Portland, Maine

4 out of 5
A long walk from the ship to the street, they do have golf cart shuttles for people that don't want to walk . This port is more commercial. We ate at Demilos, but the real treat for me was a food cart that sold fresh oysters. O Oyster, he will shuck them for you at $2 an oyster. Just another example of Maine's great seafood industry

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
I hate disembarking,. We did the shuttle to the airport. The process was aggravated by the presents of another cruise ship using the same terminal. You really have to go with you instinct here and just head towards the street. After you make it there you will meet some Norwegian representatives that will direct you to a bus with a number. Once on the correct bus it was ok. From ship to LaGuardia took 2 hours.
