Eleven days of fun and entertainment and great food and thrilling sites and relaxation and amazing crew. What more could you ask for?!
Embarkation
4 out of 5
While we had covid testing to board. It was very well organized
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Had an elegant feel in the Grand Pacific and food better than we recalled from previous cruises. Specialty restaurants excellent. Cagney’s steak perfect! Fun at Teppenyaki with the shrimp and filet done just right and tender not rubbery. Flavorful. ‘Stuffed to the gills’ at Moderna.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Plenty of activities. I had done the rock walk previously and it eas a fun challenge while at sea.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The singer/dancers and music groups were excellent. Truly professional including the stage lighting and sets. Atrium music needed better backdrops. Too noisy an area to highlight the performers well.
Children's Programs
No kids with us. Very very few on board at all.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Everyone was kind and beyond helpful and friendly. And masked at all times. Felt very safe and cared for.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Amazingly clean and fresh. I noted the sparkling white of our balcony and the next day a guy came across cleaning with spray again. Amazing. Carpeting, fabrics all in excellent condition. Everyone cleaning in their spare moments.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We upgraded thru the bidding and secured a balcony suite cabin. Larger balcony and cabin. Very accommodating steward. Safe did not work on arrival and was replaced the next morning. Cleaned and fully refreshed twice daily. Would choose again.
Ship tip
Try to sample and enjoy everything yet find some quiet time too to enjoy the sea itself.
Did not do an excursion. Pier adjacent to Intrepid Museum and seeing those planes was fascinating. We left late during the night but got to see NYC highlighted by the setting sun. And arrival back was thrilling pulling in with the Statue of Liberty all highlighted by the rising sun.
Our excursion was cancelled for ‘civil unrest’ on the French side. Took the tourist passenger ferry to town which was fun and enough to experience in one day. Take the ferry—don’t walk or get a cab to town. $7 RT for a very nice ride that drops you off in the center of everything
A favorite for us is Jost Van Dyke. Has a far away feel and an exquisite beach. Pool chaises gratis. A few small food and drink places adjacent to Soggy Dollar. The water is exquisite.
Took longer to debark but we were able to remain in our cabin leisurely until our tags were called. And we were so thrilled about the morning entry views up the Hudson who could care how long it took?
Glad to see the information on Gem! We have 132 days until we board and head east to Europe. So looking forward to a long and relaxing cruise to wash away the Covid doldrums!
