I know this won’t last long, but cruising at half occupancy is such a treat! Deck chairs, the pools, the gym, the buffet, limited lines other than when you were getting off the ship.
Great Stirrup Cay needs a little more to do there.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Slightly confusing. Signs weren’t well positioned so you knew where you should go first (Covid test).
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Main dining room was good most nights. We did the Brazilian steakhouse one night: that was very good. We did the French place one night: just OK. And we did O’Sheehan’s one night: dessert was the best part of the meal.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
With the limited capacity on the ship, pools were never really crowded, which was great. We use the fitness center every morning; always a treadmill or elliptical machine available.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The evening shows we’re good in the band on deck in the afternoons was great.
Children's Programs
No children on the sailing!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
All of the crew were so grateful to be back doing their jobs. They were very happy to see people again and to interact.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The layout of the gem is slightly different than other cruise lines that I’ve been on. There were always staff cleaning which gave you a very confident feel.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The steward always kept the cabin clean! He did a great job! As for fitting more than two people in the balcony cabin, it would be very tight.
Ship tip
Don’t forget that you can eat at O’Sheehans and the Great Outdoors instead of the buffet and dining rooms.
We did self disembarkation for this trip. We left our cabin and were out at the curb to get a taxi in 15 minutes. The longest part of the whole process was waiting in line to scan your card one more time.
You're quite right, I read that cruiselines will be increasing capacity in the coming weeks. You'll have the memories of enjoying at half capacity. What a great 25th anniversary present!
