Review summary

We have a very good time on board the ship, and the employee's and crew were very helpful and very kind. I just wish we could have stopped at every port.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The boarding of the ship was easy in Boston, we had no issues. I would recommend using a car service.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was generally of a high quality, with a few exceptions in the buffet. The buffet could be a nightmare at lunch, as there were not enough seats for everyone, and many people insisted on sitting by themselves, reading, at a table for 4, when done eating. This is why we chose to do lunch at the restaurants.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We used the spa everyday, it was very relaxing.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The stage shows were very good. We saw comedians and musicians, each was a higher quality than we expected.

Children's Programs

No children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The waiters and stewards were very accommodating and eager to please.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship's layout was easily understandable, and everything was kept very clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin with balcony was great. I can't picture not having access to the outside, and not having the door open for the fresh ocean air.

Ship tip

Be prepared to walk, and wear comfortable shoes.

Ports of call

Boston, Massachusetts

5 out of 5
I live in the area, so I think very highly of it.

Bar Harbor, Maine

5 out of 5
It was our first time back since going there on our honeymoon. It was very quaint. We took an excursion, a trip on a schooner. We got a perfect day.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

5 out of 5
Halifax was much bigger than I anticipated. We took the excursion to Peggy's Cove and saw many great views there, and along the way.

Sydney, Nova Scotia

5 out of 5
I enjoyed Sydney and the music there. We took an excursion to the Highland Village and learned more of the history of the area.

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island Did not visit port

The Gem was forced to tender here, and the winds and waves were too much for the boats.

La Baie, Quebec Did not visit port

The Gem was forced to tender here, although prior notes said we would be docking. Again, the winds were too much to allow tendering.

Quebec City, Quebec

5 out of 5
Quebec City is a great city, like a short trip to Europe. I have been there several times and enjoy relaxing and wandering the city.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
I think the disembarkation could have been done better. Once again it looked like we were bumped from the dock we were supposed to go to.
