Review summary

This was our 12th NCL cruise and the second on the Gem.  I had forgotten how much smaller the balcony rooms are on the Gem.  It made up for it with a larger bathroom and my favorite good-sized glass stall shower instead of those tiny tray showers with a curtain that pours water out into the rest of the bathroom.   The closet and drawer space were also compromised a bit, but for a 1 week cruise it was sufficient for the things we brought.  Otherwise we enjoyed good food and good service on a well-maintained ship plus 3 great production shows by the Gem's outstanding dance troupe.  As NCL ships go my new favorite if the Spirit.

Entertainment

The 3 production shows were excellent, but they would do well to replace Second City with some real comedy.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Although not nasty, the crew just didn't seem as upbeat and positive as in the past.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Room was a bit smaller than I like, but immaculately clean and well-maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

Could have been larger with more closet and drawer space, but kept very clean.

We enjoyed just tour o the city with a great gal who was super entertaining and knowledgeable. She made sure we saw the Reversing Falls at full boil and then later in the tour at full calm.

Don't miss Peggy's Cove and the Titanic Burial Site at Fairlawn Cemetery. So much to see here and so little time.
