Review summary

We cruised on the Norwegian Gem to the Eastern Caribbean.  This was our first cruise, but definately not our last!  The food was delicious, the service was wonderful and the entertainment was outstanding.  Our cabin was perfect!  We can't say enough, it was the perfect vacation for us.  You could do as much as you wanted, with so many opportunities and activities available, or do as little as you wanted, relax in one of the hot tubs or pools or lounge areas or enjoy the casino or sun deck, whatever you wanted! Perfect!

Yes, we did a shore excursion on each island. We toured Old and New San Juan, Puerto Rico, "Sights, Shopping and Sand" in St. Maarten, St. Thomas Overview Island tour and Cayo Levandato, Dominican Republic. The tours in San Juan and St. Thomas were nice, informative and had great guides, but we felt there just wasn't enough time to do or see all there was to do and see. St. Maarten's tour was the longest, but included time at the beach. Cayo Levantado was perfect, a great beach day. We would do this cruise again and choose different shore excursions, NOT because the first ones were bad, but because we feel we have seen the historical parts, now we want to experience more of a local feel on each island.
